Why do MAGA assume all blue cities are violent crime ridden hell scapes?

Yes they do! The pastor who spoke at my mom’s funeral (in the Midwest) couldn’t believe I lived in DC. He kept saying at the luncheon afterwards, “sorry you live there with all that crime!” I rolled my eyes and walked away. Turn off the Fox News; they lie!

It’s not that all blue cities are hellscapes; it’s that all urban hellscapes are blue.

You do you boo. I choose to live far away from density, subsidized housing, weed odors from neighbors, and mentally unstable hobos outside of my door.

To each their own.

Wow that’s quite an inaccurate picture.

You do know that drug use and OD rates are higher in rural populations, right?

I live in NYC (enjoy it and have no plans to leave) and am a lifelong Democratic voter. The first PP isn’t saying anything inaccurate at all? NYC is in fact extremely dense and I unfortunately smell weed and see mentally unstable hobos daily. Sometimes multiple times a day. I totally agree with MAGA and anyone else who will say it aloud that there are a lot of issues in big cities caused by antisocial or crazy people acting up in public spaces and negatively affecting normal law abiding citizens. It’s a function of many things, including that progressive city councils tend to do things like decriminalize weed and pass laws that ease punishment/enforcement of small/“quality of life” crimes and in some cases (like in NYC) eliminate bail, which allows repeat offenders back onto the streets.

Like I said, I choose to live here anyway and pay a lot of money to do so (obviously I do not think the city is a hellscape), but these issues exist and denying them isn’t particularly helpful to Democrats. It makes you look clueless at best and disingenuous at worst.

You have prosecutors who drop cases, or downgrade them in the name of equity.

Read an account of a lady in Virginia, a few years ago came in to testify about an assault.
The prosecutor asked is the person in the courtroom right now? When she answered, the case was dismissed as a violation of the defendant's civil rights, because the courtroom was almost empty.
The arresting officer had been 'mistakenly' directed to the wrong courtroom, and didn't appear until the case was already over.
This defendant has committed many more assaults since, and has evaded jail every time.

This. My elderly parents, hooked on FOX, always talk about the "dangerous" blue cities. They never travel anywhere nor have they even been to half these "dangerous" places. They think their northeastern suburb is the safest place on earth, with of course, the best schools, best doctors, best best best everything.

“set out a number of controversial directives, such as non-prosecution of crimes including resisting arrest, trespassing, fare evasion, and prostitution. Bragg’s office would broadly reduce charges for crimes including knifepoint robbery, commercial and some residential burglaries, weapons possession, and ‘low-level’ drug dealing. There will be a presumption of no jail time for almost any crime, and sentences of life without parole will be banned even for cop killers, barring ‘exceptional circumstances.’”

Alvin Bragg memo on day one of becoming DA.

What a bald faced lie. Aren't you ashamed of yourself for posting lies? The mayor and district attorney of Jackson Mississippi are both democrats. Delete your lies.

Yeah, and St. Louis is on both lists. Looks like a chatGPT hallucination.

There is St. Louis city. Then there is St. Louis county, which is broken out into north, west and south areas. St Louis city is not in St. Louis county - they are separate.

St Louis city - very blue, can be very dangerous.
St. Louis county, esp. west county - very red, very affluent, much safer.

This is such low hanging fruit for any Democrat to seize and run with. Hopefully someone is smart enough out there...

Dems will just double down on failed strategies. This is why Trump is able to run roughshod over his opponents. The dems have only themselves to blame, for embracing the most toxic pro-crime and pro-disorder ideas and rationalizations.

They should work together with the leaders of the state and local lawmakers. Cities aren’t islands.

It probably is safe. Just like most places in the US. Their fear is unfounded.

DP...I understand how city government works. The officials are elected, just like at the state level. And for some reason they keep electing Democrats. Maybe because Republicans sit there complaining about the crime but don't offer any actual solutions.
