We should pin this post as an example of magas reading comprehension. |
Eventually you end up with the type of “stores” Baltimore city has, with bulletproof glass making up the whole storefront. |
Ok. Yes, there is organized crime. Here is a huge ring led by some suburban white lady in California. Maybe if we had a functional FBI we could do more of this; seems like we did under Biden’s watch. https://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/attorney-general-bonta-secures-prison-sentence-against-organized-retail-crime Other thefts are just poor people getting stuff because of the terrible Republican trickle down economics. |
| Who cares? Let them hide under their beds while claiming they’re the ones with courage. |
But, what’s wrong with that? |
| Donkeyblue shiatville. |
“500 blue counties generate 71% of America's GDP. 2500 red counties generate 29% of the GDP. Democrats are clearly much better at capitalism than red state shitholes.” |
or maybe because they are? |
| A good number of them most likely don’t travel. Therefore, it’s easier to cultivate fears based on what they hear and see on FOX. A MAGA relative heard I visited a certain city this month and his first question was if I was afraid of being mugged. No, I wasn’t. He hasn’t set foot in that city in 20 years and has no intention of ever doing so again, yet, he’s got the inside scoop from FOX. |
There were 28 murders since the National Guard showed up on August 12. There were 100 murders from January 1 to August 12. That is a dramatic reduction and anyone except the most delusional partisan hacks can acknowledge that. https://mpdc.dc.gov/dailycrime Despite this reduction, DC is still drastically more dangerous than San Diego, Seattle, Boston, and NYC. It is an extreme no go zone compared to capitals of European countries as well. |
I wonder what changed in the last year |
But, not every store does that. The CVS on H Street in NE employs a more creative approach by just removing certain products to a store room. What’s wrong with that? It doesn’t mean there’s crime there. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12682951/shoplifting-crisis-CVS-replaces-stock-photographs.html |
I grew up in a rural red area and no, they rarely travel. I bust peoples chops and tease them about thinking they need a passport to cross the damn county line FFS. The have little real-world experience. |
Yup. And when you look at per capita crime stats, many of the deep red parts of the country have more crime than the bluest parts. |
The actual highest per capita crime rates are in rural Arkansas, Alabama and other southern red states. They think because the absolute numbers are so low that it’s safer…but it is of course divided by a very small population. Admittedly, because these places are so small, the crime is also targeted for the most part…there isn’t opportunity for random robberies…so people feel like they are safe if they don’t have a beef with someone. However, you read all the time about a neighbor shooting their neighbor because of petty squabbles. |
