How honest are you with self-checkout?

Anonymous
I always scan everything and pay for my bag if I need one.

I missed scanning a $2 bottled drink on one occasion and admit I did not go back in to pay for it because the store was crowded and I needed to move on with my day. Im sure Ive been overcharged $2.00 at the same store at some point.

Yes, of course I scan everything. Most people aren't looking for opportunities to steal.

There's been mistakes of course, but nothing intentional. Clerks also make mistakes. But no, it is nita system for stealing.

I take more of a "cosmic justice" approach to matters like this.

How is it cosmic justice that you are contributing to the higher cost of goods for the rest of us through your theft?

I 100% scan every item. I'm not a thief.

+1 that is not what teacher pet means. That use suggests that only the teacher's pet is honest and all the other kids are cheating. OP, most of us are NOT cheating.

They look at you like your crazy because if it's a perishable item they just toss it out into the trash.

She was losing her mind at the time. She was kind of MAGA, she was an antimasker, she was having financial and business troubles as an independent lawyer during Covid times. I think it was gardening supplies she didn't pay for.

It made the local paper. She passed a few months later due to combo of issues related to poor judgement, diabetes, caught covid, etc.

To me it's just crazy to steal like that (in addition to being morally wrong). With cameras, weigh scales, store security, credit card records, etc.

Well we don’t live in Hicksville.

This wasn't in Hicksville. It was a streetcar town 2 miles from city limits of a big US city (small town suburb).

I've accidentally missed scanning something. I just scanned the same bottle twice the next time I was there, so I paid for an extra. I didn't go all the way back to the store the same day.

100% honest all the time.

I would be a trash person in the eyes of my spouse, my kids, my parents, my family, friends & acquaintances and myself if I was not honest.

Don't want to accumulate bad karma and sin

100% believe that one day stores will be able to catch such wrong doings and people will lose face, reputation, jobs, money and freedom.

To echo another poster, were you raised by wolves? Or has social media influenced your stupid self to think that stealing is being a badasss or something?

I steal when I can. I can’t afford life.

Hicksville is in Nassau County, Long Island and is a suburb of NYC. It’s not a one-horse town.

I just stole conditioner from CVS. Paid for the shampoo though

They have cameras on the self checkout so I don’t know why people steal

With produce, it’s easiest to steal since there are no bar codes. You have to manually enter the name and quantity of item
