At 4 AM the flooding had already hit. I am not casting blame, just pointing it out. |
I don’t think so. I think the rain started shortly after 4 according to eyewitness accounts. A guy was out for a very early jog. |
The "guy" was the city manager jogging at 3:30 AM. The flash flood was a result of a stalled rain system UPSTREAM from the flooding. That it was not raining in Kerrville yet means nothing. The water was rising at the camps before 3 AM, reaching major flood stage at 4 AM: https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/HNTT2 |
No, don't be stupid |
Don't care. TX voted FOR climate change and Trump. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ |
So now that it’s been demonstrably proved that the NWS did have a full staff on had, plus extra personnel, AND issued alerts (which it seems were largely ignored) prior to the flooding, so NOW the narrative is changing. Now it’s “govt agencies have been reduced in size and budget and more things like this will happen because of that”….. Despite it being clear to everyone now that this flooding tragedy occurred with an over-staffed local NWS office that issued alerts well before the flooding started. You people are sooooo invested in making this about Trump you’ll twist anything into all manner of narrative-pretzel if you think it sounds deceptive enough to be convincing. You people are the opposite poll of Brietbart or other RW groups, and you’re every bit as lacking in credibility and integrity. |
“Pole” not “poll”…. Autocorrect seems to think this about politics. Which it is, for you folks. |
Where has this been proven effect because everything I am reading continues to say they were vastly understaffed and missing key positions |
Trump is a climate denier has taken extensive action to roll back any initiatives that were aimed at clean energy and combating climate change. He's canceled climate research. He's laid off and reduced staffing at important agencies involved in both researching climate change and responding to climate disasters. He makes no secret that he intends to dismiss and sabotage any efforts to invest in responding to the increasing frequency and severity of flooding and and other disasters seriously. And his voters support it. Americans of the opinion that we need to do a lot more rather than a lot less are perfectly entitled to that view and to look at mounting evidence all around us to support it. |
None of this is true, Trump is lying, understaffing and underresourcing agencies, and getting people killed. |
+1000% They are down at least 500 people and many critical positions have not been backfilled, and the funding to improve their ensemble prediction models and make them high resolution has been gutted by Trump and the GOP. Trump and the federal level Republicans are trying to spin and deceive claiming what NOAA has is good enough; meanwhile Republican Texas state officials are screaming that the models and warnings and outreach and coordination from NOAA all need to improve. Trump is wrong, and people died because of it. |
And the same is happening with other science and data based agencies that keep Americans safe - EPA, NIH, and so on. Trump and the Republicans act like it's all just a game, doesn't matter to gut agencies as long as they make their deranged megadonors rich and happy. |
And apparently that makes America great again. Let's not invest anything in researching threats or in systems to warn about threats or even in resources to potentially move away from threats. Let's just ignore it all and be sitting ducks and call it great. |
