Did Trump's cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service impact predicting the flash floods in central Texas?

House and Senate Republicans are, as of this morning, STILL pushing for a nearly 30% cut to NOAA and other agencies and programs that protect human life (like the FEMA flood mapping and mitigation programs, CDC, EPA and others, justifying it through lies and nonsense just so that their billionaire mega donors can get massive tax cuts that they don’t need.

I just heard on the radio that since she spring, not one single post disaster mitigation support request from the states has been approved by FEMA. That didn’t even happen in Trumps first term, when those requests would get quick turnaround. Noem is a disaster and needs to be fired, and Trump himself needs to be held accountable.

I have a good friend who is a long time female employee. What Noem is Donny to the agency is insane. She’s incompetent and cares nothing for the mission. People are being told to do as little as possible and the director basically has no authority. Anyone who speaks up has been immediately fired and walked out. They are doing regular lie detector tests of employees to try to discourage whistleblowers. The American people deserve so much better than this.
40 years ago fema was a little known agency that toiled in relative obscurity to help people at the worst times of their lives. I don’t know how it became such a scapegoat but it’s coming at the worst time—when climate change is making climate disasters more and more common. We need more and better resources at FEma, not knee capping the agency. Sadly many of the dedicated servants have already left and many more are on a path to leave in the next several months.

I’d say the same thing about FDA and NIH. It’s appalling what they are doing to destroy our country.
