Every one of my kids’ friends that are products of divorce are unmotivated and fragile. I feel for them. |
Nobody cares what they do when the kids are in their 30s and 40s. That’s not what this study (and therefore this thread) is about. Try to stay on topic. |
Exactly no one is trying to convince you (or anyone) of that, you nitwit. |
DP here. Adult product of divorce. And I’m an adult and have fully dealt with my childhood. Don’t brush off the divorce like it’s nothing. It leaves scars. Nothing your kid can’t handle but he is having to handle it. Respect that. |
Um, you obviously haven’t been reading this thread, dummy. |
I applaud you for your dedication to your child! He is so lucky to have one parent who prioritizes his well being. |
I have never brushed it off like it’s nothing. Please get therapy, or maybe unpack your issues with your own parents. I’m doing the best I can do for my kid. |
None of that -- jail, teen pregnancy, early death, etc. -- is remotely surprising to this child of divorce.
It's horribly damaging for most. |
So "one miserable mother" v three miserable kids. We see you. |
Lol. I have quite a "pedigree." And my old-money mother's third husband (a doctor whom everyone in the community loved) would occasionally grab me by my hair and throw me against the wall. You understand nothing. |
This. Divorce is a problem than ruins the family structure forever. |
A lot of crass attention-seeking. |
Exactly. |
Not exactly news. People have known this for centuries. Yet people are selfish and divorce rates went from 5% a century ago to over 60% now in recent years. Results of the "Quick fix instant oatmeal I want everything and I want it now" selfish politicized society. |
THANK GOD MY PARENTS DIVORCED. Seriously, that marriage f*cked me up far more than their divorce ever did.
Also fwiw, my own 27th wedding anniversary is in a few weeks. Still quite happily married, too. But if I were in a situation like my parents’? You can bet your bottom dollar I’d be out the door. No one can say what other families “should” do or what impact it will have. |
