Not if they get aid.

Harvard is a private school!!!!!!!! They can choose to educate whoever they want!!!!!

They seem pretty reliant on public money for a "private" school.

They aren’t receiving money to operate; they are receiving money to perform services.

They aren’t “reliant” at all.

MAGAs are so fcking dumb.

I've only voted for democrats since Gore, but thanks.

Same. Agree with you as a Dem.

There are a lot of us democrats here who think US colleges and universities have gone too far with international admissions. Reign it back a smidge. Not to 0, that's draconian. But 3-6% seems right?
The politics behind this issue are not worth democrats fighting. Its a losing PR battle.

10% makes sense to me. Some graduate programs are SO heavily international. My niece was rejected from a flagship program in her home state that is 50% international. That's not right.

holy shit. what state?

Perhaps if she spent 10-12 hours a day on school work like the international kids do, she wouldn't be in this position. I'm sure she looked cute in her cheerleading outfit though.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Thousands of students coming from across the globe to be educated in the US, spend tax dollars here, and then contribute to the US economy if they stay; or disseminate US value if they go home.

A true travesty.

What about all the smart American students that could have filled those spots and benefitted from a Harvard education and benefitted the economy. I don't think anyone is saying no international students but we need to put American students first.

60% of all graduate students are from outside the UK, as are 21% of all undergraduates.

Stats from Oxford’s web site.

They’re already in the world top five.
US is just going to keep falling, but go ahead and celebrate.
-Not a fan of Harvard, but not a fan of intentionally destroying science and medicine research either

Not top 5 but Number 1 in the world. Where a student is from shouldn't matter. Just if they can fit in the school.

American kids can't even put China or India on the map, but that is EXACTLY what their kids are doing, moron.

Why would it just be for undergrads? “About 6,800 international students attended Harvard, about 27 percent of the student body.”

Public schools can compete for research work today. Nothing stoping them. Maybe if they had more high quality academics (ahem, international) they would be more competitive.

There won't be any need to compete soon, as funds keep getting taken away from so-called "top" schools.

Sure. We will take the opinion of the person who can't even write a sentence under serious consideration.

Then no one will get it. But at least Harvard isn't getting it.

If they can compete with the rest of the student body, the American students will get in. But my experience as an American with two Ivy degrees is that the international students were often the smartest in their classes. Losing that talent brings down American education as a whole.

very childish but Harvard will survive a period without foreign students. So many different groups of students have been excluded from that place over its history and yet it's still there and it will continue to be there.
