Here's a radical idea. How about nothing political for a change?

This is the way.

There is no appropriate place for racial content in public spaces.
Some consider it art and the subject matter is immaterial to that end. And I want you to think carefully about what you just said because it is also the reason MAGA are loathe to have public conversations about the history of slavery. Y'all just don't want to think about anything that makes you uncomfortable. You don't even want to know about it. But your own "plight" should described and shouted from rooftops even thought it's based on misinformation and the POINT is to make other people feel uncomfortable. What makes you think you can curate history?

Republicans (and independents) actually love pointing out that the Democrats were the pro-slavery party and that the Republican party was founded in large part to oppose the expansion of slavery.

Lately they similarly enjoy drawing a direct line between the historical democrats' "but who will pick the cotton and harvest tobacco if slavery is abolished?" and the present-day democrats' "but who will pick my blueberries and spring mix lettuces if the illegals leave?"

100%. The “I need wage slaves in America that are paid under the table with no benefits so I don’t have to pay more for my groceries, daycare, and home repairs” argument is weird coming from the party of morality and social justice. As is the argument that we should prefer paying less for electronics manufactured by child laborers in places with no environmental regulations over paying more for the same products if they’re made by people who are struggling over here in factories that will put out far less pollution.

Republicans were actually pro-slavery too. Lincoln didn't care about the slaves, he just wanted to preserve the union.

And the question is, so what? Slavery no longer exists in this country. It's a historical fact, of no current-day practical impact. Nobody born here who is alive today is or has been a slave. Mission accomplished.

A lot of this is about the simple fact that people dont like blacks. Many blacks don't like blacks.

While turning a blind eye to the fact that, more often that not, they're committed against black people.

Chris Rock did a standup bit about this from back in the '90s.

No, it means "stop extrajudicial killings of black people."

Funny, most of those killings occurred subsequent to black people committing crimes and then resisting arrest.

I'll grant you that point and just add that if it were only that, my sense is the BLM the organization/movement would have been a lot more successful. Where they jumped the shark, IMO, is when they jumped on the whole "defund the police" bandwagon that ended up causing more black people to be killed by criminals.

I’m glad they are getting rid of it. Let’s move on to bigger and better things.
