Please carve out for small business, especially local and minority owned businesses. The goal is not to bankrupt local entrepreneurs.

Lots of those people support Trump. Too bad!

And lots don’t. I can speak for the cities where I shop. Do your homework— and spend your dollars in line with your values.

I live in northern Ontario (ie nickel and gold belt), and I heard that Musk is involved in owning a new mine in Timmins (gold capital of northern ON). If this is true, I wonder if he is using his Canadian citizenship. FYI we produce tons of nickel up here that is exported to the US.

Same, I never vote conservative, and refrained from voting in this provincial election, but I do like Ford’s approach.

Someone explain this to me like I'm 5.

There is no logical explanation. Republicans point to fentanyl, but less than 1 percent of all fentanyl in the US comes in via Canada. Whereas nearly all the illegal fentanyl in Canada comes in from the US. Just today the Canadians arrested two Americans smuggling fentanyl into the country. So that explanation holds no water.

Every single day, the US and Canada do nearly $4 billion worth of trade. Every single day. That's more than a trillion every year. What's going to happen with the tariffs is catastrophic, particularly for Canada. As Buffet said, it's basically an act of war on Canada. And for what? This is a willful destruction of the entire North American economy. Republicans have become the party of pure nihilism. Canadians are united in their loathing for America right now. And Canada will do whatever it can to inflict maximum hurt on the US economy, particularly the red states.

I think he wants puppet states like how Russia has Belarus. It won’t be the “51st state” because no way he wants those people voting.

Same PP. Lastly, I just watched our PM’s speech. I stay away from patriotism but I am proud of our response. We will go down in the dumps but at least we will stick to our core values and support each other no matter our political stripes. We will even draw from our security support such as employment insurance to help those who lose jobs. I am happy that my taxpayers’ dollars supports these people.

PP. not the same PP as “vassal state” post. I am the from northern ON.

Maybe we will become part of the EU before that happens.

None of the tariffs will be passed on to the consumer. The companies will eat it all.

How do I know?

For years, democrats have been telling us that corporate taxes will not get passed on to the consumer.

So here we are. Let's just go by the democrat's "economics" for once!

Sudbury? Impressed with DCUM's reach.

(I'm originally from North Bay but I left decades ago).

What the heck. I am a Montrealer who lives in NB for work. I attend conferences in DC, which is why I am on here.
