Tuckahoe Boots Machine

The only people who should be up in arms about back room get off the waitlist deals are the people on said waitlists for said pools. There are loads of great pools and great teams without waitlists or HOAs. To my understanding, Crosspointe, Old Keene Mill, Hunt Valley, and Orange Hunt (to name a few) don’t have waitlists and have excellent swim teams.

Or they handle it like adults in a professional manner.

Good luck with that…literally put all of your eggs in one basket…

Maybe it will work out great. Your comment sounds a bit jealous…you said “your” so you aren’t a Tuckahoe member.

Why do you care?

Don’t have a personal interest but am allowed to give my opinion

Do better.

Do better? I’m pretty sure DCUM is a place where people are allowed to share their opinions on things.

I question how it is a smart decision for Tuckahoe to go all in with one individual. Feel free to have a different view on this

You can have an opinion without being rude or wishing failure on people. I think that’s what they are saying.

I think very few people in the swim community are going to be rooting for Torey or Tuckahoe to succeed. Polarizing coach and polarizing summer swim team.

This is a sad forum…anyone ask their kids how they feel about any this? Doubt they will really care. And they actually might grow from it.

Yes. They have questions that we can’t answer for the moment about what will happen (where/clubs/coaches/friends) they’ll practice with. Are they losing sleep? No and neither was I. Doesn’t mean anyone is excited. (Mach parent)

So where will that machine group go?

My kid was upset for about 2 minutes mostly over the uncertainty of whether friends would continue at whatever the next site is or go to another club. Didn't care beyond that.

Come on now. If you have this much ill will toward an individual or a summer swim team, that's pretty heavy. Unless this person has harmed you individually or something absolutely scarring has happened vis a vis the swim team, it's just terrible that you feel you need to say that.

It's a swim club whose Board of Directors made a business decision you clearly don't agree with, and that's your right. While it's also your right to say what you said, it's just a lot to say you wish ill will on an individual and, let's be frank, a group of kids aged 6-18.

Kids, especially older ones, definitely care. Many have been with their coaches and practice groups for a while, and have built strong relationships. Lots of questions on where their coaches and friends will end up.

Do you mean polarizing because of this development or polarizing before this development? It’s a very cozy business relations that Torrey has set up. Automatic feeder for the business and I can’t help but wonder if parents sign up for Torey’s business because they think they will get a foot in the door at tuckahoe.

They are kids. This is supposed to be fun. Things change. Y’all take all of this far too seriously. Few if any of these kids will swim beyond HS. Lots of wasted energy on this thread being outraged over something the kids will forget about tomorrow. And to wish will on any person or party involved is pathetic.

I think your over the top outrage over people questioning the decision is interesting…Tuckahoe is not a well liked swim team…it is what it is…

I was simply answer the question on whether kids care. Not sure why you’re attacking me for stating that yes some kids care.

Swimming is meant to be fun and it’s a lot more fun, especially in the early morning hours, when you have a strong connection with your coaches and fellow swimmers. I know it’s not the end of the world, but I also don’t think it’s fair to assume that kids don’t care at all. My kids aren’t in tears and losing sleep over it, but they do care about where their friends and coaches may end up.

I’m a York parent, and I can’t help but compare this situation to a school redistricting.

Except you can choose where your kids swim.
