MCPS let high schools open last Thursday before child care providers and just forgot all about the full day child care providers. Then they needlessly insisted on shutting down all activities at 6am on Saturday. The people in charge of these decisions are obviously idiots, and deserve the criticism. Sorry you don't like it and insist on using sexist language to shut people up. |

| Most of that email is ok but honestly there is already enough information to decide on early closing tomorrow. They are just posturing to show that they are trying hard not to inconvenience families, when it would be less inconvenient to just call it now. |

I think this was a mistake especially with Howard and Frederick already making decisions. It will make it harder to back down, which may be needed. I'm frankly surprised. Other districts doing this gives them cover and there is always less blowback for playing it a bit safe and then claiming the forecast was wrong but you made the best decision you could with the info you had at the time, instead of hoping that the Winter Storm Warning at 1pm doesn't actually mean that and winding up on the news when a bus gets stuck. |

| All because of timing of storm. They wrote a book length announcement because of how they made the call last Sat when there was little to no precipitation. Shut it down MCPS. Just close already Tues and make the call for Wed on Tues eve. What if snow starts earlier than noon? It could happen. |

Because early dismissal doesn't add a day to the calendar but closing the whole day does. |

Who cares at this point? That week in June 16th + is already a school week now. It'll likely be 3 days that week. |

From most inconvenient to least inconvenient is: 1. Early release 2. Closure 3. Regular schedule with PM childcare closed I don't think defaulting to the least convenient option when it can possibly be avoided is very helpful. That's what they did with childcare last Thursday and it was appalling. |

That’s funny bc I really liked getting it! It was informative, explained their reasoning, tried to calm people down about the fact that it MIGHT BE SNOWING at dismissal even if they don’t do an early release and it’ll be okay because of the air temps and likely decent road conditions. Compared to how it used to be? Nothing at all until 5 am the day of? No explanations ever? This seemed like an improvement to me. MCPS parent since 2008 |
