If we defeat Trump, can we get the normal Republican party back please? Which Republicans have stood up to him?

I miss the normal Republican party - not this cult party we have now with a man of zero character and leadership remaking it in his own image. I know every politician spins and deflects to some extent, but Trump's incessant and compulsive lying is next level. His disrespect for the Constitution and America is disqualifying.

Which brave Republicans have risked being on Trump's retribution/enemies list to say "don't vote for this man" and that they are not voting for him? I want to remember and celebrate them.

The only way to get the normal Republican party back is if we defeat Trump (for the second time) definitively.

Who else wants the normal, sane, rational Republican party back? This dystopian alt-right cult version is unrecognizable and disturbing.

It will take 25 years for the GOP to even begin to recover.

Yet they are getting 50% of the vote right now, similar to the democratic party. The parties of 25 years from now will not resemble the parties of 25 years ago.

That’s the story people like to tell, that Republicans are “half the country,” but the Democratic candidate for president has won the popular vote in 7 of the last 8 elections, and may very well win it again this time. That’s a pretty clear indicator that Republicans are not half the country.

There are no normal Republicans.

It will take some years for a new leadership to emerge. But if someone endorsed Trump, they've lost all credibility in my opinion and can't lead the new party.

How can you justify endorsing a convicted felon who makes demeaning comments about women, mocks entire groups of americans including the disabled, and tries to use the presidency as a branding exercise to create profits for his family's sagging businesses? He's a grifter, con man, and an incohent senile one at that.

Trump didn’t hijack anything. The GOP spent decades courting the voters who chose Trump. They were pandered to when Sarah Palin became McCain’s running mate. The GOP engineered this mess. They had chances to stop Trump, and they chose not to.

The Republicans have been degenerates since the Nixon administration.

People like OP need to understand this pronto.

I hope Thomas Massie runs next election. He seems to be a “normal” Republican.

There are no normal Republicans.

Republicans did a self-reckoning after Romney's loss in 2012. Rs ignored their own suggestions and chose **waving hands around** all of this. The sane ones have voluntarily left the party, been told to leave, or are in hiding. The ones in hiding are too scared of the kooks.

Our world has flipped upside down.

Republicans had so many better options. I hate the DT was again the forerunner.

How many options did they have who haven’t bent the knee to Trump?
