I've seen more attractive wives, shlubby husbands

Very common especially when the man has money.

I am a SAHM. Not slender. He finds me beautiful and is devoted to me and the kids.

Go figure.

Doubtful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

DH definitely age better than I did.

This is my brother and my SIL. She weights at least 150lbs more than him. He's in great shape and does more of that activities with the kids but is very helpless otherwise. There's no attraction or love, but he needs a mother figure to do everything for him so it works out. Pretty sad way to live but seems ok for them.

Why does she need him? Even a handsome face gets tiresome when you have to assume their share of the parenting load.

My boss is a CEO and his wife isn’t that cute. He’s not either. I’m sure they both had their “thing” when they were younger. Everyone has their time in the sun.

Yes. Although I also know guys that were not that good looking in their 20s—kind of geeky, but by their 40s are actually pretty hot. It’s like the Benedict Cumberbatch thing. Whereas late 40s are tough for us women. By 70, the women usually look way better than their husbands though.

That’s me and DH.

Women also usually do more upkeep than men

Maybe it’s just convenient or that she doesn’t have the confidence to move on. It would be hard to be obese and physically handle young kids on their own.

I (the wife) am the less attractive one now. I was the more attractive one when we met, but having kids, some other complications, and breast cancer have made me less attractive. I try not to think about it too much. I know DH loves me and he always wants to do stuff together so I think he likes me a lot still, too. But it still kind of is terrible.

You sound jealous.

I am hot as hell, and my DW is even hotter. Win-Win.

+1. A lot of women can keep their weight down through their 20’s or even kid 1 but not forever. Just look at the parents. It’s totally predictable.
