When the fetus is viable. |
Moderator are not the fact checkers the other debator is. Very unusual Kamala needed the help. |
Oh so now that you lost it doesn’t matter and no one cares? Neat. There are millions of undecided voters. I don’t know how they could be, but there are. |
When the lies are as egregious as the ones coming out of Trump's mouth (migrants eat pets, babies are killed after they're born, etc.) then it would be journalistic malpractice NOT to fact check. |
You know as a mom I already taught my kids when they were 4 or 5 years old that when you loose a game or mess up, try better next time. With Trump and his fans, it's always that everybody else is cheating. |
Fox already admitted in a court of law that they are an entertainment channel, not a news or journalism channel. Why should an entertainment network be hosting a debate? This would be like Oprah's O network hosting. How about we let HBO or Showtime host? That should be truly entertaining. Fox is not news media, it is editorial entertainment and opinion commentary. |
The standards you hold her to vs Trump are absurd! Did you know in the US doctors are allowed to abort/murder full term babies born alive? /s. Just look up with Governor Northam said. He is a doctor. He said what Trump described. It’s on video. It is real and it was the whole truth out load. Hard core abortion rights people believe a mother should have complete choice to eliminate her child the entire term and upon birth. She wasn’t forced to admit she wants no restrictions but that he has view. But don’t act like he lied. Northam said those things. No, Gov Northam described pallitative care. Essentially hospice for dying babies. It's tragic and horrible for families. Even my pro-choice DH has an issue with this because he doesnt understand the realities of childbirth and thinks every parent would make the choice to do every single life saving measure and cannot wrap his head around the fact that a fetus can make it to term and not be able to survive still. This is why its a healthcare decision and made with the information and support of clinicians. It is not a independent family position. No hospital would provide palliative care for a healthy child- they wouldnt need to. Do you know how many things you have to explicitly decline in a hospital for a newborn and how much judgement there is and how many CPS workers get called when a hospital staff member thinks a family is endangering their child? Its literally a fight sometimes to get them to not give your baby a bath or to keep them in the room while they perform their checks/sticks. My DD is a physician who has been at births of babies born without brains - some parents insist on hooking them up to all kinds of machines while other parents just hold their baby in their arms until they die. It's an extremely emotional time for all present. |
Honestly, I think they did Trump a favor by moving on before he could go further on this rant. |
Go away, Vlad. You're really obvious. |
He was also trying to blame the left for the assassination attempt. They were moving on so as not to let him cast such atrocious blame on his competition. We all know where that could lead. |
They sure did. I watched them do it repeatedly. And they were also polite and respectful, always saying "Thank you, Mr. President," before moving on to the next question. Even their facial expressions were neutral and composed. They also let him speak 5 minutes longer in total than they let her speak and let him respond to her more times than they let her respond to him. |
I haven't read the entire thread, but here is what Governor Northam actually said. (And Trump could not remember his name or whether he was the previous governor of West Virginia or Virginia.)
Northam was asked what could happen if a mother whose fetus had severe deformities, or wasn’t otherwise viable, requested an abortion while in labor. He replied, “If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” Northam says in a video from the 2019 interview being shared online. “The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.” That's it. That's what he said. Which part of what he said is objectionable? |
And the isolated incident of RFK Jr, the Trump supporter too dumb to actually take his name off the ballot in 4 swing states, who had to backtrack and deny that he got brainworms from eating dog. After recommending a friend try dog meat while visiting Korea. So that zero migrants eating pets and possibly one Trump surrogate. https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/02/politics/rfk-jr-eating-dog-vanity-fair/index.html?cid=ios_app |
Governor Northam was asked what would happen if a mother who had already started labor, and had a fetus that was going to be non-viable, requested an abortion in the middle of her labor. What he said was, in that case the labor would continue. When the baby was born, with severe deformities and not expected to live (i.e. no surgery could correct the hole in the heart or repair the brain damage etc) then the baby would be made comfortable and allowed to die (because again, no surgery or treatment would help - that's the definition of non-viable, right?) What exactly do YOU think should happen, if a mother is in labor and requests an abortion in the middle of the labor? (Surely the question is, can the mother request the abortion before labor begins, because her fetus is not expected to live? But he wasn't answering that question.) |
As medical technology expands, the date of viability goes back further and further though. Right now, a baby that’s 22 weeks old can survive with deep medical intervention. Some babies have survived birth in the first trimester. So much for a clump of cells |
