Do some of you ever skip the opportunity to play that card? |
Same
I'm glad it's over. Simone is good and gets all the coverage but many many scored higher and her floor routine was a train wreck. |
I'm a super womens Rugy fan now.
I don't understand the sport but the players are funny, relatable and their instas are awesome. 30 BMI ! Oh the horror - now you are a medal winner! Love it. |
It’s not over, because the individual all-around and event finals are still going. And her “train wreck” floor will likely win the gold medal. In the current scoring system, extreme difficulty trumps execution, which works in Biles’s favor. But the things she can do are amazing! |
Especially what Biles does - very high up! - in the air - amazing! |
It’s actually not close to over and literally no one scored higher than her in qualifications. |
Haha that PP has no idea what they are talking about it's hilarious. I look forward to them discovering that not only is gymnastics not over but there's actually 4 more days of it and Simone Biles will be competing in every remaining event except the uneven bars apparatus final (and there she is first alternate so she will compete if anyone else pulls out for any reason). Because she's so good that even though she got hurt in the middle of qualifiers she still managed to qualify for nearly every event final. But yes it's a mystery why there is so much focus on her -- the greatest female gymnast in the world and perhaps of all time -- here in her last Olympics where she is favored to win 4-5 gold medals. So confusing. |
This. Not understanding that when a gymnast for instance adds a half twist to a vault that results in a blind landing everything about the vault becomes more difficult including the landing. The may need more speed and a better block off the vault in order to get enough height and velocity to complete their rotation. They will not be able to spot the floor before landing so must be able to go by feel and aerial awareness in knowing where the floor is and getting their body in position for impact. They must be tighter in the air in order to complete the extra half twist but also know when to adjust their tightness to safely land and cushion their landing using their knees and hips while also maintaining balance. And also landing coming out of a twist results in horizontal torque as you land which is more destabilizing than the rotation created by a flip which can pull you off balance if you over or under rotate but otherwise directs your energy into the ground and is therefore more conducive to a "stuck" landing. I guess if you don't understand all of that then you might watch someone do an insanely difficult and rarely done vault or tumbling pass and yawn at the speed and height and rotation of the skill but then throw a tiny fit in your living room because the gymnast took a small step or hop upon landing. Apply to be a gymnastics judge at even the lowest level competition with that approach and let us all know how it goes. Even baby gymnasts understand how silly this is. |
Clearly you have no clue what’s going on. |
That is incorrect |
Because there is an incredibly cheap, quick and easy to access solution to this "problem." The only reason someone would complain about this is if they really, really wanted to be unhappy about something. |
I'm a committed gymnastics fan, but I get what the first poster is saying. Simone is simply the greatest gymnast of all time. Her technique is incredible and allows her to do things that no one else can do. She deserves all of the attention and accolades that come her way. On the other hand, her artistry isn't top-notch. And that's fine because, in an open-ended code, the difficulty of her gymnastics makes up for it. Those ethereal athletes of yesterday did simple tumbling passes beautiful. What's amazing about gymnastics today is that is room for different types of athletes and styles. Some have more artistry, and some have more high-flying skills. You don't have to have a starving ballerina body to be the best gymnast in the world. If you don't have the massive tumbling, you can use artistry and dance elements to increase your scores. If you watch NCAA gymnastics, you will see an emphasis on doing less difficult routines as well as possible. That is fun to watch, but on the other hand, there are no routines that take your breath away like watching Simone launch herself to the rafters and come back down does. |
Great trick by NBC, make the free coverage unbearable so we have to pay to use Peacock to see quality coverage. They will make millions if not billions by this rude. But you call this a "solution", it actually sounds intentional. |
Looking at the schedule, right now racewalking, women's handball, men's golf, and table tennis are on regular cable/online services (I checked Fubo). Is that not enough? |
I said what I said. You are not going to back me into a corner to change my assessment. And I am not unhappy, I am happily making a judgment. I don't care if you and some other posters disagree. And no, the whole world doesn't agree wjth you so I will not fall for that line. Pick a name to call me I will wait: --old fashioned --stupid --dumb --negative --no fun --idiot |
