Adults have a very hard time with these conversations, as shown. Some kids at least are over it.

People always make assumptions about new generations. Eh, they just grow up and turn into adults.

And yet I still get sucked into posts like this. You'd think I would have nearby now.

It's pretty disheartening, but not surprising. Pps are 100% being racist and just trying to deny it, justify it and downplay it. It's really gross. No wonder kids are being sucked into MAGA and RW cults, their parents are just sitting idly by as the red flags blow past them.

Racists gonna racist.

Dog eating is not funny. Bad drivers jokes instead?

Not funny TO YOU.

Very funny to this friend group.

And if you're comfortable with bad driving jokes but not with dog-eating jokes, then you're really not that much different than these boys; its only a question of scale

And scale is important. Tropes that trade on the weirdness and foreignness of Asians are more insidious than jokes about driving skills. If all the kids like these jokes, ok fine. But the fact that you as the adult seem to revel in their freedom to make race-based jokes is very curious. Do you wish you could make racist jokes with impunity?

Asians are like 60% of the world population. Why are they acting so put upon? I thought punching up was always ok?

Are you really this dense? Asians are like 2 percent of Americans. We are talking about American kids. The nation has a history of excluding Asians for being weirdo foreigners. White people making Asian jokes is not punching up. If you think so then you need a history lesson.

They are not 2% in every area. Or in schools. White kids are minority in schools.

+1
My kids are in Blair. It’s 77% minority. They are all ragging on each other.

People keep bringing their out of date framework into this conversation. The world has evolved and they haven’t.

But the PP was using world population as evidence that Asians shouldn’t be offended by dog-eating jokes. If you think white kids at Blair are so put upon that they feel the need to “punch up” at Asians, then I guess I will have to take your word for it, as I don’t know that community. I just know that I still feel like a minority and am offended by dog-eating jokes. And I don’t wish for a world where people always call me dog-eater and I just laugh because I’m not a minority. I wish for a world where people don’t take my race into account when making fun of me.

No, NO ONE cares anymore. Because in your view pretty much anyone talking about race is a racist. Which makes the word meaningless.

Not all kids live in this post racial world where white people are the minority. So it’s not a generational thing. My kids don’t think it’s funny or ok to make fun of people based on race. They are racial minorities in a predominately white area.

If the Asian, black and Latino kids at Blair are really enjoying being the butt of race jokes, more power to them. But the fact that their parents are so eager to make these jokes themselves is disturbing.

What parent ever said that they were making jokes about their kid's minority friends?

You're just making things up at this point

You don’t know anything about me. I have been the victim of hate speech and race-based sexual assault. Not all Asians have the same experience. You would know that if your social circle were as diverse as you claim.
