Either kid or nephew. And I think that might have something to do with it. Hearing that perhaps this kid/family member wasn’t up to par with his peers. I can’t say for sure but rumor is that influenced some of the comically irrational contract altering decisions and refusal to tier that group for U9. |
No one is striking it rich as a coach at any youth club around here. |
He came to Bethesda with his background for free? |
Barça background: he’s from the city of Barcelona Very experienced: guy is in his 20s Ekkono expert: no wonder BSC were trying to push these extra training programs in the $pring. Too funny. |
His bio on has a bit more than, from Barcelona |
Great team, great players for sure but 2012B group (and I don't know if this is unique for BSC or youth soccer in general) has been cycling players in and out at a pretty good clip. Probably about say 40 different kids touched the top team in the last 3 or so years. As an example, I noticed about 5 were cycled through during winter/spring. Would expect when DC Academy starts the following year, they will lose a few of the better ones. So saying they have been together awhile seems like a stretch. But they keep looking for the next big thing and looking and to certain extent finding it. Fyi, not adding this as any kind of defense of BSC or contribute so some downfall narrative, just presenting an observation. |
Oh wow, that is an interesting observation. They just gave some ballers if they can play that well with a mix of new and older kids. How many of the kids on the team have been there the last 3 years then? Makes me wonder about the general composition of the other top teams (MLSNext and ECNL) teams in the area. |
*must have some ballers* |
3 years? Only 3 ironically. Good question actually.
BSC knows the best players will leave to DCU by U13-14, yet they don’t focus on developing and keeping top players. |
This is just so factually incorrect. People just make stuff up or guess. 40 is insane. I would say 15 since u9. Kids moving out of the country, out of state, going to other clubs, being dropped down to the second team etc. 4 kids left between winter and spring. 3 wanted more playing time and the other went to another club for a better fit. About 7 kids have been together over 3 years and 10 have been together for two years. I imagine this is similar at every club. It’s a great team and the boys are all friends. Everyone is excited for the new coach and we all also know Phil G who we have experience with. Also pretty sure every team and club is also always looking for new good players. Welcome to competitive sports |
Weird flex. All the top players from all the top clubs are at risk for leaving for DCU. |
I think you misunderstood. If current team has about 20 and it seems you are saying 15 have come and gone, then you are saying 35 or so different players have been on the team. So 35 or 40, whatever. And half the team is new this year. Again, great players, great team. Not meant to infer a narrative that BSC is declining or doing anything wrong. |
The current team has 13 players. Since u9, so over the past 4 years, about 15 kids have come and gone. The rest remain. Remember rosters are small at the u littles and this team has never carried large rosters. We have 3 new players currently that we did not have last year. |
Ok, counted 8-9 on the bench for an 11v11 league game a few weeks back. They must not have been on the team and I guess they don't use subs. My bad. |
BSC had three girls at the u14 usynt camp all week. Richmond had two as well. Did they even play? |
