Foreign Players and MLS Club Academy players are primary and priority sourcing on the men's side. They get all the full and partial scholarships. |
His college style philosophy heavy on physicality probably isn't best for U9 |
Oh wow, that’s a pretty big change. I wonder how the u13 kids/families feel about that. They must have been looking forward to training with Phil. |
I am sure coaches have their own pecking orders, but from my vantage point, a lot more clubs should pay considerably more attention to the level of coaching at U9/U10, where coaches may have the most positive impact on player development. This is where Arlington has often fallen short on the boys side. |
Yup, we here in America overlook the importance of the foundation phases, yet expect high qualities at older ages. |
He also was busy and having trouble putting in the time for MLSN. His attendance and attention has been spotty to put it mildly. This had been an ongoing concern for a while. It may well have more to do with that than anything else. |
That is absolutely not true. My son played for him this year and he never missed a practice and rarely had to miss a game.
|
It could also be that they're just resetting his cycle with a different group. Wasn't he with the 2010's from about U9 - U12? |
+1 Phillip was the person who taught our soccer-ignorant family that the years from 8-12 are the prime ones for skill development, then showed our kids and their friends what they needed to do to work the skills into game situations. I think this is a great age group for him. Sorry to go off topic. |
Based on the resume of the new MLS Next U13's coach, I don’t think any of the parents will be disappointed. Unless their kids were picked for physicality over technical skills and IQ This guy is of Spanish, Barca background and rugby-ball won't be his thing |
I wouldn't be shocked to see PG helping with the U13s (2012) in the Spring, in addition to the 2016s. Despite what the website says or doesn't say. |
DS is a 2012 in the area and has played that team a few times. They are physical if you mean fit and determined/hustlers. They are not physically imposing like SYC 2012s are but have great technical skills and are in sync. I’m assuming many of those kids have been playing together for a while. |
Don't see why he would need to help. If the qualifications of the new coach is true, he's more than capable and probably the better choice. |
Barça background? How did he come to be part of the local soccer scene? |
$$$$$ I suppose |
