Maybe someone can start posting pictures of what they think a middle aged woman with a BMI of 25 looks like |
My bmi is 24.9. I don’t feel overweight . I wear a size 6 in all the major brands (Ann Taylor, J.Crew, etc).
How does one really know if they are overweight? |
? This thread is about bmi 27 and you go yo body gallery and see for yourself… hint it’s not obese |
Oh sorry right . but even 25 is considered overweight . Anyway, carry on |
When the other option is not voting? Or vaxx denier RFK? Yes, people will have to justify a vote for one of them. BMI is an artificial construct and was never meant to be some line at where you are healthy at 24.8 and need to lose weight at 25.2. Your first clue is that men and women use the same scale. As do 20 year old women and post menopausal women. We’ve reached the point that in home scales can give you a decent percent body fat read out. Much better indication of health and able to be indexed by age and gender. |
Blah. Again. Imagine thinking using anecdotes is meaningful. Way to not understand risk and statistics. Heart disease and strokes are the #1 and #2 killers on the planet. Being fat and overweight kills. I’m sorry the stats go against the narrative you want to hear. You can tout stories all you want of in shape or skinny people getting cancer or dying young all you want, that still doesn’t negate the overwhelming evidence that being fat and overweight dramatically increases your risk for heart disease and risk of death from it. |
You are going to die too. No matter how skinny you are. |
You should also study up on nazis, bmi and eugenics |
We actually don't know the long term effects of these drugs. I wouldnt encourage anyone to take them unless you are morbidly obese and going to die anyway. Remember the miracle drug fen-phen before all the heart problems arose from it. |
Of course! You can also be over weight and be healthy. That's how statistics work. 95% of obese people are UNHEALTHY. That means 5% are healthy. The stats are flipped for thin people. Your sibling was in the 5% of thin unhealthy people. I'm going to venture to guess your entire family has mental health issues that manifest around food and unhealthy habits (lack of exercise, smoking, dinking, etc, etc) - that's why you're obese and your sibling is unhealthy. |
|
Ozempic is not new. |
You got me. I never conceived of thin people having cancer. Clown world. What’s instructive here is that people continually feel compelled to bring up random unrelated anecdotes to divert from the reality that 1) BMI is a useful tool, and 2) there is nothing inherently healthy about a 27+ BMI-it’s the opposite. Those are the facts. |
You should study up on nazi scientist involvement in our space program. We can end the thread now that I’ve come up with the most random side show to distract from the reality of fat people in the US and their poor health. |
Well you certainly 'know' me internet stranger! I know you won't believe this but I am not obese. My siblings and I never smoked and don't drink. Sure I could lose about 10 pounds around my stomach ( I had two c-sections) but otherwise I am healthy. I am 57 and don't take any medications. You are going to die same as me. But at least I am not a mean person making up stories about people you don't know! Ps I know why my sibling got cancer but I am not sharing with you. I know why my sibling got sick but I am not going |
