Those rightward shifts among Millennials are tiny. The question is whether those rightward shifts will overwhelm the effects of Gen Zers reaching voting age. I strongly, strongly doubt that.

Yes, they will, because there are a lot more of them.

There are more Millennials, yes, but... that doesn't matter. What matters is whether the number of Millennials switching to Republicans is greater the number of Democratic Gen Zers reaching voting age. That's what I am doubting.

Newsflash. Young people are always liberal. Wait until they have kids, get real jobs, pay taxes, and have wealth. You think 18 year olds with Wendy's jobs and attending college have a clue how the world works. Lol, have you been to a college recently? They're clueless children. My wife just left her job at a university. The stupidity of college kids was astounding. So many were incapable of doing something as simple as opening up a bank account and filling out the paperwork to receive direct deposit in order to get paid from their on campus job. No wonder why a cohort that inept at the basics of life is easily duped by clownshows like AOC.

I was a die-hard liberal Democrat during college and my 20s. Then I had a family and gradually have become more conservative. There is no way I would vote for a current Democrat. Bill Clinton was the last true moderate - there's no one like him anymore.

How do the Democrats interfere with your "family?"

So stupid.

I am 62. Liberal from my teens all the way until now.

Being "conservative" is just another way of saying you are selfish.

So stupid, indeed ^^. When liberals demand everyone else pay for their college loans, it's crystal clear what party I WON'T be voting for. When liberals insist on including graphically sexual books in school libraries, they're giving me yet another reason not to vote for them. When liberals push for biological males to compete against biological females, they've lost my vote. When liberals insist there's no crisis at the border, they are gaslighting and deeply embarrassing themselves. I could go on and on, but I think that's more than enough evidence of how Democrats interfere with my family.

Do you resent the money we all have to spend on the military?
Do your kids check out a lot of sexual books from their school library? Cause having volunteered in the elementary school library, there aren’t.
You play a lot of professional sports?
You live at the border?

A lot of what you consider to “interfere with your family” is mostly in your imagination.

It's amazing how truly out of touch you are - and yet, you probably consider yourself very cutting edge, very in tune with the pulse of modern-day America. You're not. You live in a tiny echo chamber among like-minded LWNJs, none of whom have any clue what people outside your 5-mile radius are doing on a daily basis.

Military? I said nothing about the military and am, in fact, a big supporter. I'm grateful to every individual who serves and am happy to spend money on our defense.

Obviously, the books in question aren't in elementary schools - we all know they're in high schools, so that didn't need to be spelled out. Nice strawman.

I play no professional sports and in fact, am not athletic at all. My daughters, however, are. They will not be competing against biological males. Sorry.

I don't live at the border. However, our local schools are rapidly filling up with illegal immigrants. I also resent the cities that are only NOW speaking out about illegal immigration because it's finally affecting THEM. Like you, they were only too happy to gaslight it all away before being presented with busloads of illegal immigrants that border states previously had to care for. I can only hope one of those buses pulls into your neighborhood in the near future. It is YOU who is selfish.

Like I said, selfish. Thanks for proving it.

Also incredibly uneducated. You don't understand the student loan issue and haven't done your homework.

There's a handful of biological males competing against women. It is a non issue.

No one us forcing your kid to read a graphic novel. But sure, jump on the censorship train.

The right easily whips up fake hysteria in people like you.

Too funny. Anyone not voting for your agenda is "selfish" and "uneducated." Every word you just typed is selfish, uneducated, and downright absurd. If you had a daughter who had to compete against a biological male, this wouldn't be the "non-issue" you pretend it is. Having age-appropriate books in a public school library isn't "censorship," it's common sense. You can order all the graphically sexual books you want on Amazon for your own kids, or just take them to your local public library.

And most tellingly of all - you didn't even touch on the border issue. Because you have absolutely no leg to stand on.

No fake hysteria here, just simple facts. You, however, seem to be quite hysterical that anyone would push back on your nonsense.

Well you’re not Gen Z or a Millennial so you’re kind of surplus to requirements on this argument. As well as hateful and obviously scared.

I see you still have nothing to say about the border issue. Talk about hateful and obviously scared!

Are we not believing women any more? Do you think the swimmers from Kentucky and Penn were lying about their discomfort with Lia Thomas? Should the SA survivor’s feelings of safety matter less than Thomas’? Because presumably Thomas had to change with afabs because they were worried about the men in a mens’ locker room, right? So Thomas should get to feel safe at the expense of their teammates/competitors? Please answer and be specific about what afabs should have to deal with to spare trans women’s feelings. It’s not actually such a new thing to expect women to “be kind” and allow any boundaries to be crushed by men. So progressive!

I like how you managed to ignore everything I posted. Like why even click “quote”? Just write your own post if you want to write about something unrelated to what I wrote.

FYI, the PP is not the same PP (me) from above. However, I agree with her. Why are you threatened by what she wrote?

If you think you are entitled to strip away reproductive rights from the people of this country think again. You will lose over this issue as you should.

Also counting on Gen Z activists from other parts of world such as Europe. The Portugal youth suing their government for not effectively dealing with climate change and endangering their futures are courageous.

I am older and very worried about the mess that we have burdened our youth with.

Totally disagree with PPs who say youth should have to pay exorbitant tuition fees without relief. No other rich country charges their youth such high prices to get an education needed to become functioning members of society. The interest rates are insane. They can’t even get rid of the debts after declaring bankruptcy because they are federally protected. We could at least allow those who cannot pay their student debts and for basic living needs to declare bankruptcy.

The student Loan system needs a complete overhaul.

No other rich democratic country has taken away reproductive rights for women. Women are dying in large numbers due to political interference in what should be medical and personal decisions. Children are being forced to give birth to children. No one wants to have abortions but sometimes they are the lesser of different evils.

There is a rental and affordable housing crisis in this country. Many young people cannot pay off their student loans let alone afford a mortgage.

Gen Z - we have largely failed the majority of you. I will be rooting for you to rise about the mess and help to create a brighter future.

I’ll say the same thing I say on the issue every time: it it’s a real problem and you want a solution, tell your party to come up with a legislative solution. Their failure to do so is what says that they don’t really care about it, they just want to keep their bigoted voters animated.

But you need a filibuster proof majority to pass most things. I agree with you otherwise. And let’s be clear, at least for the Democrats, there is a huge policy range between Manchin and AOC. Only in the US would these two be lumped together.

Please, Gen Z! Do it!! Change us for the better.

If an election has a razor thin margin, please be practical. Don’t vote for a 3rd party candidate that has no chance of winning.

Thank you,
Gen Xer

DP with perhaps more critical reading— stripped of our citizenship because we lost the federal protection of bodily autonomy.

Wtf are you talking about? I’m the PP you’re responding to and I was responding to another right winger panicking about the border (again). If immigration is a real issue (it is!) and it’s soooooo bad (it isn’t!), then the GOP needs to write some damn legislation. Make compromises. Get to the table and do the work.

But they don’t. They just use immigration to inflame their simple minded followers, who never seem to demand that their own party, the party that has the majority currently, address the problem with legislation.
