America is far from free. Why do we accept living under perpetual fear of endless gun violence?

We the people won't be free of gun violence until we can overcome the ignorance, the intentional misunderstandings, the crazy conspiracy ideas that so many believe in. And that won't happen without a well-educated public, which in itself can't happen without Republican buy-in to strong public schools. For now, our best bet is to use our VOTE.

The Supreme Court has spoken. If you don’t like it, you are free to leave.

Or to change the Supreme Court. That’s how the Catholics rolled back reproductive liberty for women. We can surely do the same thing for unregulated possession of firearms.

Or pass a law?

400 million guns. You aren't voting them away.

It will take time, and many people will die in the process…but voting us the ONLY path to resolving this. Voting out craven Republicans.

I would also support modernizing/clarifying the second amendment.

Cool. What you want and what you think isn't going to happen.

LOLing at people getting uptight over gun rights while blindly turning an eye to that far more people are killed in car accidents. Want to ban cars?

No way. We should eliminate drivers license requirements & relax automobile safety regulations. Nobody should have to register or insure their cars. That would be a sane response to increasing motor vehicle deaths and injuries.

If only the 90,000,000 other gun nutters in this country would all follow suit.

Problem, solved.

But I think we can all agree it’s almost always males doing the killing. What sickness has taken hold of American men?

Woman just theorizing here: we stopped valuing masculinity as important to family structures, law and order, etc.

I don't disagree with you that this causes problems and should be examined. However, male violence has been consistent throughout time and across cultures. It's not particularly unique to this time in history or American men.

America exists because patriots had weapons and could form a militia army capable of defeating the British army. The founding fathers included the 2nd amendment to ensure the American people would always remain free.

We're not living in the 1700s anymore. Lots has changed since then.

Yes and the British army left our shores. We have our own army now of professional soldiers who can ward off enemies.

Agree - We didn't have a standing professional army to defend us when we fought off the British.

We do now.

These "we need guns to defend Murka" guys need to move on.
