Why Does "Lacrosse Culture" in Highschool and College seem to be so BAD these days?

If you look at major college rosters, players on the teams are extremely athletic ie UVA's starting defense went 6-5, 6-6, 6-7, with the 6-7 guy being the fastest on the team. Rosters are no longer stocked with kids from hot bed areas, but pull kids from Tx, FL, GA and Canada.

What that means in today's world is that kids who once might have played D1 are now playing on D3 teams as they get replaced by guys with elite athleticism. But a hallmark for being a reasonably high level player ie HS and beyond is that hasn't changed is you need to be a good athlete, with the great thing being all manner of athletes (big/small/slow/fast) can excel.

Another false notion is that lacrosse parents are worse than any other youth sports parents. Lacrosse hasn't cornered the market for abhorrent parental behavior, with plenty of that to go around in every sport.

Lots of truth to the post but interesting someone recently dug up a post started in 2010. I will say that there have always been athletes in lacrosse. This is not a "new" thing. ND best football player is also a great lax player on the team but the best player on the ND team and best player in college lacrosse this season is maybe 5 foot 8 on a good day. The key is that they are all athletic but height and weight is not always an indicator of "athletic."

So will lacrosse, now that public schools (and football players) are starting to play. My son goes to a big lacrosse school and I'm SO glad he plays other sports. And the parents are obnoxious.

Please name a sport where parents are not obnoxious. Love to know.

So far I have found rock climbing and kayaking.
son played football, basketball, and ran track. Daughter played lax and field hockey. Best parents hands down were with track. Fastest wins, no odd ref calls, no overly aggressive coaches, and money was reasonable. The more money the bigger a$$clown parents. Lax wins that one without question.

Lacrosse culture is awesome. The athletic boys compete on strength, speed, and skill. The lacrosse boys I know tend to be charming and intellectually engaged.

Do they pick on the weaker kids? Yes, but that's not bad. Some bullying is healthy and we have too little. Letting the weak kids run wild isn't healthy for society.
