I know this forum is dominated by angry partisans, which means what I will write will only fall on deaf ears.

Pence was reasonably well respected in DC as a negotiator and getting policy done. People got upset with his statement about being alone with an unmarried woman but given the context of our #metoo times perhaps it wasn't so unwise after all. Within the Republicans, and even among many Democrats, Pence was more than competent as someone to work with. As a political candidate, he was picked to help win over the evangelicals, so he had a role to play. And, it should be pointed out, he was among the first to criticize J6 and has distanced himself firmly from Trump. As VPs went, he was solid, reliable, and extremely competent.

Harris, by contrast, has been completely shuffled aside and kept under wraps by the Biden administration. She is a non-entity. She plays no role, she is not listened to, she does not bring support to Biden. Her gaffes are many and foolish. The gap between her and Biden in a hypothetical matchup with Trump is significant. And for very good reasons.
