What do you want to see in S5 of The Handmaid’s Tale?

Luke has good intentions but the women have the experience. How will he even blend in? He doesn't know the rules and has no defined place.

I hope his sacrifice has meaning.
Agree. I don’t see him surviving.

More reason for June to get angry.

I hated how Janine was completely different when she woke up. She completely
Lost her persona of being naive and seeing everything through happy glasses. Then she went back with the other handmaid’s and the first thing she says when they surround her is, “I almost died!” In a childlike fashion…back to herself.

Do we know the woman Serena is now staying with?

I agree. That was very jarring. I was confused by the last scene back in Gilead. So is Serena now going to be a handmaid in that house??
Thats not Gilead. Isn’t she still in Canada? I think it was just a Gilead sympathizer.

Actually, I thought the same thing except I knew they were in Canada. Is anyone thinking that this is a budding Gilead offshoot in Canada, and this commander and wife will take in Serena as their handmaid? She doesn't have a husband and she is with child. Will they claim the child, and start their own small section of Gilead in Canada? Will Serena be wearing red in the next episode?

I’m not sure she’ll end up a Handmaid, but this article did a good job of explaining how Mrs. Wheeler can be a huge threat to Serena. https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/the-handmaids-tales-new-villain-mrs-wheeler-more-dangerous-than-serena/

Janine - i thought it was suppose to show how much the handmaids now worship her like they did June. I think (and hope) Janine is going to take on the leadership role. She finally realize what was going on. Remember, this is how the show started- she was the one willing to speak up.

I actually liked this week more than previous weeks - less focus on June and more on the other characters.

Isn’t the woman the same woman that harassed June in the park. A Gilliad want to be. It woukd be a good arc for them to treat Serena as bad as she treated single pregnant women.

Is Fred the father of Serena's baby or had she had an affair?

It doesn’t strike you as “off” that Janine is happy to hug her kid and return her, tells the new handmaid to keep quiet or she’ll be sent to work in the colony, and is kissing up to aunt Lydia - and after the poisoning, she’s hardened, angry, and accusatory?

Maybe it's because it showed that rather than play by the rules to get along, someone (Esther) was willing to die before allowing the same thing to happen to her. It woke up questions Janine had put away as best she could for survival. Esther may have reminded her of June, but also of her early beforetimes self. Janine has got depth. The actress is doing a wonderful job showing the struggle.

Nah. Esp with her returning to being so innocent when reuniting with the girls.

Did anyone watch episode 5 yet? Looks like we may get to see Serena in red after all! They’re certainly setting us up for that. Delightful.

Yes, I wondered about that! Especially with the commander supervising her taking the prenatal vitamin. It was delicious seeing the system she created squash her own ambitions.
