What if the train is going to New Bethlehem? What if that was the deal with Gilead? Send them back, or else we will retaliate for your air strike. |
| +1 to being irritated at Moira being sidelined. Was Samira Wiley working on another project and could only commit to brief scenes? I’d love to see more of Moira in the final season. |
Mark wouldn’t do that on purpose, and IMO would be a little implausible for him to be in the dark on this. Maybe the Canadians change their minds, won’t let them get to Vancouver, and deport them to Gilead? Then they’d be forced into New Bethlehem. I don’t know. But either way, I agree that they don’t get to Hawaii. |

I kind of love that June & Serena end up together at the end. Will June help Serena? I don't think that train is making it out of Toronto though.
Is Janine headed to the wall? That scene reminded me of Emily & her martha girlfriend in the back of the van long ago. I wonder if Mark will get Nick out to Canada. Luke will be in prison. I don't think Nick and Luke can both be physically present in June's life at the same time. Though that would be interesting. |
| That train is not getting to Vancouver, that’s for sure. |
I think it's supposed to, plus the other numerous scenes where the Handmaids bond together under threat. But there's no way they end with Janine on the wall. Maybe Lawrence has worked out a deal to have all these folks sent to New Bethlehem. |

Nope here is what i see: I the train (etc) WILL get to Hawaii or Alaska - prob hawaii because they specifically envisioned it - and Serena and June will rise to power jointly and create some new women/fertility-focused utopian society. No men allowed except as guards and that is where Nick comes in and maybe also Lawrence. tuello also maybe as a sort of diplomat. I mentioned this theory a while back but I pictured june having to give up Luke but I much prefer it that Luke have himself up - swapped his own freedom for his wife and daughter’s unlike the opposite last time.
I can only imagine Lydia and Janine join them but i imagine Lydia will be inspired because seeing Janine lose her tongue will be the camel that broke her back. |
I’m wondering if we are supposed to think that Lawrence is turning into a bad guy with his rise to power. I’m guessing it will be a fake out and the new Gilead figurehead/bad guy will be Mackenzie. I wasn’t really feeling the whole “Janine has snapped” thing when she went off on Naomi. It seemed forced, since she’s been through so much already. I loved the Hard Knock Life singalong. And you could just feel the exhaustion and WTF radiating from June when she encounters Serena on the train. It was a nice complement to the Janine/Naomi scene. |
| Also i love that. Toronto neighborhood and the house they live - what a roomy, beautiful kitchen. |

The Rose scene did not sit well with me. Yes, her father is THE Commander. So, I guess she grew up in a rules optional world. Pat me on the head because I got my husband a cup of tea (which I giggle is awful) without waking the Martha. She seems very docile and naive.
Women (and men) in Gilliad don’t get to chose their life partner, divorce, remarry, maybe have the baby split Easter’s. Remember Eden? She tried to leave Nick for Todd and they were both killed. Lawrence got a few months to mourn, and then it was “there is no place in Gilliad for those who don’t follow our lifestyle” and Naomi Putnam was pushed at him because they both needed to be in a marriage, preferably with a kid (never mind he had her husband killed; “he is willing to overlook that). But, Rose sounds like a college co-Ed “I’ve seen how you look at my roommate. You don’t really love me so I’m leaving you”. And that works for college co-Ed’s. It does not work in a world where women become handmaids or are sent to the colonies for divorce. AND she is carrying a commander’s child? The child of an eye? What’s her plan? Walk away from Nick with the baby, move back into daddy’s house and have a Martha help raise the kid? Get a divorce and remarry? Her father could never set that example. Serena, a top Commanders wife heads home AFTER HER HUSBAND CUTS OF HER FINGER and whips her (and technically she has no baby at that point) and her mother is like: nope. Going back to Fred is your only option. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised Rose was so protected she thinks this is a special plan applying only to her. Or, maybe she will join the Vancouver bound train. But, Nick knows better. Up close and personal from Eden. I’m very surprised he doesn’t sit her down and give her a dose of cold, hard, you are going to get yourself killed reality. |
Since her father is so important, maybe she’s thinking she can have Nick killed. |
| Series finale. |
Not series finale, but season finale. |

Yeah if nick is t executed, she’ll have to go back. Emotional affair is not really a reason to leave your husband in Gillead.
I don’t get the people saying the train is going to Gilead. Trains are on tracks. You can’t just make a u turn and head to boston. I could see it getting stopped midway for some reason. Maybe they’ll get off in Minnesota and canoe across the boundary waters. |
