Queen of terrible predictions here, but I predict that Serena eventually has to leave Noah with purple hair lady that rescued her and she teams up with June to go back into Gilead to rescue Hannah. I also predict that June or Serena is dead at the end of this series. |
I agree. Luke has worked in other ways, mostly political, to rescue his loved ones. I don’t need him to be Rambo. |
When he got the Gilead Embassy shut down with a piece of paper, I thought, "There's our man, Luke!" He doesn't need a gun, he's got bureaucracy! |
I most definitely think Serena gives her life to save Noah, Hannah, or both. |
|
God, I hate Luke so much. He has no swag or appeal. Like, at all. His personality could not be more annoying.
Now, I’m a big fan of June/Nick. The hotness! |
And/or in combination with June. The series is really about the two of them at its core. |
Do you think Luke is supposed to show how naive June was in the beginning? He never changed, but June was changed by her experiences. He didn't have that. So, he's this soft guy (no disrespect!), who just doesn't get her anymore. Seeing him has always made me wonder how they were as a couple before Gilead. |
I never thought of that, but it’s definitely a valid perspective. He just seems so needy, which I can’t stand. If anyone should be needy, it’s June…yet, she’s way more independent and decisive. Nick, too. He’s got a quiet strength, which he maintains even while he shows his softness. I swooned a few episodes ago when Nick said, ‘I love you.” [PP] |
| I can never swoon for Nick. He actively fought to overthrow his government, became an Eye, and the start of his relationship with June is far from romantic and extremely problematic. He’s not working to overthrow Gilead (at the moment); he’s working to “improve” it with Lawrence. It can’t be fixed, so I’m holding grudges. I really hope his character dies. |
That’s not really how giving lives works. |
|
I honestly forgot about Serena in episode 10. Then I heard that baby cry and said “Crap, she’s back.” I imagine that’s how June feels every time they’re thrown together.
I had some hope for Rose, but she ruined it. What does she think is going to happen now? She’s married and pregnant in Gilead. Does she expect a tidy divorce? Is she hoping they hang Nick and Daddy will fix her up with another Commander? I love vengeful Janine and I’m glad she made a reappearance. This is setting Aunt Lydia up for The Testaments, obviously, but I really hated that book, so I’m still mad about all of this. I hope at least for season 6, they’ll do something more interesting than the books. |
Yo, Luke just beat a man to death. That is not soft. I think this episode showed he was willing to do what he had to do to protect her. |
I don’t understand your comment |
| I was not into this season at all, except for the brief Janine appearances. It needs to end. |
Well, it did! Episode 10 was the Season finale! I kind of can't believe that's the note it ended on, but I suppose it makes sense in a way. Kind of anti-climactic. I hope we see Season 6 sooner rather than later. I've enjoyed the series, but time to wrap it up. I am more than a little irritated that Moira has more or less been written out at this point. It would make more sense if we had seen anything of Moira's personal life this season. I don't have a lot of feelings either way about Rose. Her feelings are understandable. I do agree that it's going to be a lot to swallow that because she's the daughter of an high-ranking commander that she gets to leave her husband, but there's a lot of ground between happily married and divorced in a legal sense. I think it's being set up that Nick will be found out as working for the Americans and he has to flee as well. Remains to be seen what happens to Luke, but I would be surprised if he shows up and is with June again. I feel like they've taken that relationship and his role as far as they can in a way. I'm not wishing that he's killed off, but it wouldn't shock me. Finally some time with Janine and good on her. That was a great scene. I was glad to see Janine finally realize that she can never win by playing their game and get a little of her self back. I predict that she and the Martha end up on the train eventually or in "the West" with the other refugees. I am not convinced we are ever seeing any of these folks in Hawaii. The end scene with Serena and June was really good/enjoyable. I hope we see Emily again in Season 6. |
