Them move over when you're finished, obviously. This isn't hard.

It just seems so hard for the person behind me to stay at a safe following distance until I'm done passing.

Really hard to understand unless you get that they are self important today DC area losers.

If you are asking this question at all means you are clogging up the left lane. Just stay in the right lane unless you can efficiently pass. It shouldn’t take more than 10 seconds to pass. And that is generous.

Talking specifically to ICC drivers here, If I'm going 70 and passing traffic continually, I am not moving over so you can go 80. Sorry.

Also if I'm going 70 and after you tailgate annoyingly and I then move into a clear center lane, don't start going 71 mph, hit the gas pal!

I swear afternoon Eastbound ICC drivers are the absolute worst. We're going to get speed cams out there and won't be my fault.

LOL, the rules of the road don't apply to me, so I force people to tailgate me, thus risking bodily harm to both of us. Because I shouldn't have to move over if I don't wanna!

This explains the slow people in the left lane. I always wondered what they were thinking. I regularly drive 64W from Richmond to Charlottesville, and people camp out in the left lane going the speed limit all the time. They literally do not understand the rules of the road. I drive over the speed limit, but if there's a clear stretch, I move into the right lane. It slows all of us down for me to presume that whatever speed I'm going is the fastest anyone shall be allowed to go.

Not a bad idea.

1st DUI offense, 50k fine and home confinement for 1 year.

2nd DUI offense, ankle bracelet for life. 1 million dollar fine, at least.

Duh, very few people can pay a million dollar fine. What do you propose to do with them?

1. When you’re turning, blink before you get to the light. Don’t wait for it to turn green, pull out a little, and then blink.

2. Stay in your damn lanes in the circles. Why is this so hard for people??

By blink, do you mean indicate? I’ve never heard “blink” before.

Those who designate themself the merge police and block perfectly usable lane a quarter mile before it ends are very stupid, as are those who won’t let drivers zipper merge from the ending lane.

How does this rule work alongside the rule that everyone should be driving in the right lane so the left lane can be reserved for "passing" ("speeding")?

Lemme guess: Everyone should be in the right lane, so you can speed in the left lane and "zipper" at the end, right?

For the love of god, pull your car up closer to the intersection. You know that thick white line *before* a crosswalk? You should NOT be able to see it. That's where the front of your car should be. So may cars park like 8 feet from the line so they can see it--which is exactly what NOT to do. It wastes space, and it waste everyone's time - since you may be far too back to trigger the light's sensor. It is called a "stop line" - it is not a "so I can see that line" line. PULL UP AND MOVE FORWARD.

Take their wages and assets. And/or they are never allowed to leave home ever again with an ankle monitor.

I religiously use our cars' smart cruise control nearly every time I'm in the car and set it to the precise speed limit. One thing I've learned is people who constantly drive over the limit seem to be mentally unhinged. It is just unreal the amount of crazy tailgaters and reckless drivers triggered by me driving the exact speed limit.

If you're driving according to the speed limit and not the flow of the road, that makes you the reckless driver.

Go with the flow, not a magic number.

Are speed limits rules of the road? And I'm not advocating everyone go exactly the speed limit but the idea that the left lane is only for passing goes out the window once traffic volume reaches a certain point. And excessive lane changing greatly increases accident liklihood.

New England drivers (CT, MA) are worse than Maryland drivers. Have lived in both areas.

Oh so going 80-85 in a 65 is “following the rules of the road”?

Hypocritical a33holes and you all SUCK at driving.

DP

If they are unable to pay a fine, they can elect voluntarily to be methodically/scientifically beaten with instruments (rubber hose, sticks, lengths of chain, etc) by a volunteer squad composed of victims of previous DUI crashes. They would not be beaten to death. Every effort would be made to ensure they do not die. But they will receive a beating that they will be reminded of daily, for the rest of their lives.

I think that’s pretty fair. And generous, too.
