+1 Apparently American babies who are not aborted are expendable to dcum. Even wanted babies with loving parents are on the chopping block to dcum. It’s sick. |
This is the politics forum. I still don’t fully understand why it’s in this forum, because there is not a political solution to this problem. |
Yeah, nobody thinks babies are expendable, but what do you want us to do? Somebody in the other forum suggested that we ask/encourage parents of babies older than 9 or so months transition to cow or other milk to save formula for younger babies and I think that sounds like a pretty good idea. I guess it could be some kind of PSA. But the responses like “That’s not healthy” and “no one would do that” and someone defending buying large amounts of formula at a time make it clear that we as a country are far too selfish and individualistic to help ourselves. So some babies are going to go hungry. |
I agree. Politicians can’t magically have the components for formula appear. I assume a lot of the industrial proteins that make up formula aren’t available because of the long term lockdowns in China. China, which has an export economy, is going to collapse with their Covid strategy. It is pretty crazy what is happening in the world. |
| no generous and extensive social safety net for these families? |
Because the MAGAs are total losers with no actual points. They just want to sh1t on everyone else to deflect from all of the various ways that the GOP sucks - Roe v Wade, the Insurrection, Youngkin, etc. |
So, what is your proposed solution? |
You post in the appropriate forum. |
We should all trust the government to provide. It's working so well for the folks in Shanghai. |
Are you really that stupid to think that if a parent had the opportunity to feed their child applesauce or purée they would be crying they their child’s life was in danger due to the lack of specialty formula? If kids have severe metabolic disorders like that in undeveloped countries those kids die. America is the richest country in the world and is supposed to be better than that |
I agree, so what is the solution you propose? |
| If a baby will die without a specific formula, it should be available from the pediatrician. I realize that it is not. Maybe some large charity group can import the specialty formulas from Mexico or Canada. My oldest was on a specialty for many months and I could only find it one place in town. Fortunately he transitioned to regular formula close to his birthday and we could incorporate soft foods. I can’t believe this is happening in the United States. |
It’s because one of the plants closed in the US. They were making contaminated formula. Two babies have died from it. Abbott (formula corporation) needs to fix this issue. |
The ones from Mexico and Canada were made at the shut down plant. As far not believing it could happen in the USA, again, what solution do you offer? |
They are blaming Biden, that's why. This time for not being socialist in this one situation. Apparently, also, they think he can just nod his head and wiggle his nose and conjure up baby formula out of thin air. |
