I'm surprised that UPenn has to dip into its wait list. But I guess it is not as popular as the other Ivies.

It really doesn't tell you much other than the school's yield was lower than expected. Without testing and with covid intervening, past history makes predicting yield even tougher.

DC was notified yesterday by NYU that they have already admitted some students off the waitlist and DC is unlikely to get a spot. (Just as well anyway, since the school where they've committed is a better fit.)

We are Pa residents living in Nova. My DS with a 4.5 didn’t get accepted or waitlisted. Congrats to all who got in!

Our school counselor said W&M and UVA reached their numbers and are unlikely to go to their WL this year.

Reached their numbers or over-enrolled? My DD is going to WM and the Tribe Guide says that if they over-enroll, some kids won’t be offered a housing choice slot and will be put into any rooms that open up during summer melt (likely no roommate choice). Kids who don’t get to choose housing will be the last kids to pay their deposit.

Wondering how likely the 5/1 11:59pm kids are to get screwed in the housing process.

Oh my! Was this in the guide, too? My DC paid deposit late. I didn’t know about this.

Getting assigned a roommate (going random) isn't that bad of a situation--often times it makes for a more workable living relationships because you don't have BFF expectations.

The problem with the way WM does it is they put your kid in any open bed. So, you might get an upperclassman for a roommate, not be in a freshman dorm, etc.

That sucks!!! Unless you come off the WL in late July/August, they should really group you with other freshman. I know from my older DC, it's hard enough for kids to be in a dorm of mixed freshman/soph (vs in an all freshman dorm---much better place for most kids), but I cannot imagine having a sophomore or older for a freshman roommate!

That is very respectful of them. Allows kids to move on.

My kid is on the Princeton WL. He says he has not heard when I asked earlier this week.

Anyone else’s DC on the waitlist got an email from Cornell CAS asking if they were still interested in attending? We had less than 24 hours to respond by this morning. Literally shocked since at best we were hoping for a TO offer at this point.

Is this a true offer or just a good sign? Either way, congrats!
