BA.2 surge hitting US in April/May

Most people are more concerned about the possibility of war between NATO and a nuclear power. COVID is 2020. I have tuned it out.

For the people who want ongoing masking I really don’t understand the endgame. We’ve seen that the virus penetrates cloth masks, infects people who’ve been vaccinated (though to a lesser extent). What’s the point of continuing?

Also, N-95s protect the wearer. Why can’t people who still are Covid cautious wear them?

Paranoid. Hysteria. Damaged. Pick your answer.

When people do something for two years because they were told over and over again it was the "right thing to do" and "saving lives" it's very hard to accept that it was little more than fiction and theater. No one likes admitting they were lied to for two years.

So was wearing a mask that awful for you? No snark, seriously asking. It just hasn't been a big deal for me and I am genuinely curious to hear what made it so hard for you.

It’s not a big deal for me because I work from home. My spouse had to work in person and wear a mask all day until about two weeks ago and he is now DONE with masks.

Neat. The next time you get it, you may not be so lucky.

We will not shut up. Keep sticking your head in the sand like a child.

Exactly. If someone died from COVID because they didn't get vaccinated? Not my problem.

"We need to mask to save the hospitals from becoming overburdened" = never happened even at the peaks.

You're so immunocompromised that COVID is a threat even with a vaccine = you need to stay at home. Others masking outside isn't going to save you (and let's be honest - are you really, genuinely, immunocompromised?).

They can’t do that. Many of them have to work. There are not enough total WFH jobs to go around. And please say “then they can get disability” so we can all laugh at you.

But I know, you don’t care, because you’re a selfish jerk, so don’t bother saying “I don’t care.”

Keep rolling the dice sister, FAFO how sick you can get.

No to mild symptoms here.

The first time. Good luck with the next time. Or are you one of those Trumper idiots who think “whew, now I have long term immunity?”

news don't know shit

It’s precious that you think you do know.

You can probably say this about most viral infections.

Also the majority of people out there have had covid. Just anecdotally everyone I know except for a few people has had covid and I’m unaware of anyone who is still sick. For most people it was a mild cold. Most people read news stories about long covid and ignore. Earlier on during COVID it was easier to get scared since there were more unknowns. But everyone I know is back to normal and recovered from omicron. Even if they hadn’t - don’t know what we can do forever to prevent catching COVID.

Citation for this lie, please.

+1

Don’t care at all about new variants. This is life now. Not wearing a mask ever again.

Cool. Enjoy not flying.

That seems like a good idea.

Live and let live. The only reason people care is because they feel like they're being asked to do something. You don't bother them, and they won't bother you. Get boosted, wear a good mask and don't worry about anyone else. When we have vaccines - mask mandates are too infringing.

100% the only reason I pay any attention to the news is bc I have kids who I worry will be impacted by more crazy covid rules. I will not tolerate it. Never again. No closing schools. No mask mandates. No pediatric vaccine mandates. End of discussion.

Nobody gives a crap what you “will not tolerate.” LOL

Ma’am just calm down. Go outside, touch grass. It’s a nice night out tonight.

Harsh truth: Covid is here to stay. It’s been 2 years and keeps getting more transmissible, getting around cloth and now surgical masks. At this point, you’d have to lock yourself in your house to avoid it and for what? Vaccinated people aren’t dying or becoming disabled en masse. Australia has vaccinated the vast majority of its citizens and nearly all - like 99%, seriously, of its senior citizens - and now the average age of a person who dies of Covid in Australia is 85. Their average life expectancy is also 85.

Mask mandates and restrictions are going away and really unlikely to return in most of the world, because they are unpopular, not all that effective, hurt the economy/tourism/entertainment/etc. and the vaccines are keeping people out of the hospitals.

I flew this week. It was the first time in nearly six months that I wore a mask. It was more awful than I remembered.

Actually, PP should stick his or her head in the sand to avoid infecting the rest of us. Taken literally, it would indeed offer a satisfactory solution.
