If one of the rally leaders cared so much about kids mental health, then they would work at a place that takes insurance

How ridiculous to share a video of the remarks made by a voting school board member during a board meeting. Obviously that’s inappropriate. No scchol board member should be expected to be held accountable for their remarks or decisions.

I’m trying to understand something here. Is the outrage that she had racist and bully remarks thrown her way? Or is the out rage that people are criticizing what she has said regarding masks? IMO that’s is fair game since she is a full voting member of the board. Pretty sure we’re still allowed to criticize what she is saying just like we would Brenda wolf or Scott Joftus.

You can disagree with someone's views with attacking them personally. It's something we've forgotten how to do.

Nobody attacked her personally except for the trolls who have nothing to do with MOCO. The tweet went viral...as it should have based on her outrageous remarks.

How do you know they have nothing to do with MOCO?

Because they weren't followers of the account or any other local twitter accounts. They were trolls from who knows where.

Right, so you don't know where they're from.

The point being is it wasn’t “the usual suspects” as some here try to claim.

MCEA president begins her comments with condeming the racist comments made against the SMOB.

But I'm asking again, what were the racist comments?

I saw some of the stuff on Twitter, and while it was inappropriate, it wasn't racist. It was juvenile and lazy and unbecoming, yes. But not racist.

Can anyone share the comments that are being called racist?

I ask bc it feels like everyone is condemning these comments but nobody really knows what the comments were

They put it out there. They’ve created fake twitter accounts (and encouraged group members) to do so in the past, so I wouldn’t be surprised. Nothing they do shocks me anymore, as they are the lowest of the low.

You're making an awful lot of accusations without an awful lot of evidence

There was a comment saying something along the lines of that Asians are supposed to be smart.

They were mean-spirited comments that should not have been said, but I do think it has been blown out of proportion for political reasons. Kids (and adults) hear worse things from their friends.

Yeah, this does seem to be making a big deal of out some pretty minor trolling by some jerks.

One woman even dedicated her video testimony to the subject and got all teary?

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks maybe some of those PAGES whackos posted the racist comments in order to distract from her actual message?

That accusation has as much evidence as the people accusing the TogetherAgain people of orchestrating this

Bingo. They do this a lot.

But honestly. Comments like 'looney comments from O'Looney' aren't really that bad. I'm not sure it equates to the level of condemnation from the community. It feels really disproportionate.

When you get THAT outraged over something so minor, its pretty easy to dismiss you whenever you get equally outraged over the next slight

I don't even know why this is a debate. The Re-Open MCPS Facebook group coordinated the attack on the student. Between their own FB and Twitter, they pushed this narrative and now don't want to own. In the end we all have to go back to school together and learn how to get along. All of these inflammatory tactics - targeting a student; packing the BOE meetings with people from your group, all saying the exact same thing with varying levels of nastiness is not at all helpful. My only hope is that their behavior does not trickle down to the students - God forbid a teacher has to deal with students who act like these parents. There is not enough money.

Attending a board meeting is vile? Or are you saying that because you can't get your own people to show up to support your now unpopular stances on masking.

FYI - accusing people of doing something for which you have no evidence is not "learning how to get along"

They shared the video. That is a long way from 'coordinating an attack'

And, let be honest, we have to consider the severity of the 'attack'. From what I saw, the insults were pretty lame, and even as a teenager, most people would easily be able to laugh it off.

So when the BOE didn't pause for Reesman's kid's moment of silence (that Reesman clearly coordinated), that was awful, terrible, horrible!!! People from that group kept posting here about that incident until they realized it wasn't getting the traction they thought it would so they had the whole thread pulled. But when adults mock and call the SMOB names, her and her family should just "laugh it off"? It is this kind of hypocritical crap that causes that group to lose so much credibility.
