If one of the rally leaders cared so much about kids mental health, then they would work at a place that takes insurance

How ridiculous to share a video of the remarks made by a voting school board member during a board meeting. Obviously that’s inappropriate. No scchol board member should be expected to be held accountable for their remarks or decisions.

I’m trying to understand something here. Is the outrage that she had racist and bully remarks thrown her way? Or is the out rage that people are criticizing what she has said regarding masks? IMO that’s is fair game since she is a full voting member of the board. Pretty sure we’re still allowed to criticize what she is saying just like we would Brenda wolf or Scott Joftus.

Did you see the title of the thread? It's about the bully remarks thrown her way.

There’s a group of people that have a vested interest in shifting attention away from what the school board member said to the offensive and inappropriate remarks that people made on twitter, many of whom didn’t appear to be in MoCo at all, much less associated with parent groups here.

But two things can be true: the school board member dangerously suggested we ignore data on mask efficacy when considering changes to mask policies, and some people on Internet can be mean.

Again, you're making excuses for these parents and you're probably one of those parents.
Look at the words you use: "dangerously"?

[quote=Anonymous]MCPS parents were not making fun of Hana. The folks making fun were not mcps parents.

I think it’s important to share the video of her comments though bc most people don’t watch live BOE meetings. She represents a big issue in this county. Fear of getting sick far outweighs the actual risks. Perception has gotten us into a lot of trouble. When I saw the video, my first thought was - wow - we have work to do. We need to change the messaging. Show people how to assess risks, face fears, re-enter life.

Video clips of important comments will always be shared after BOE meetings. SMOBs should expect public feedback and criticism. It’s politics. Nasty comments are unacceptable. But, at least what I saw, was not from mcps parents.

Who? Name them and their comments.

Bc what I said, there were many parents who rightfully criticized her words, and then some anonymous Twitter losers who made the stupid remarks.

As a PP said, hiding behind a few stupid remarks is REALLY good cover for her ridiculous comments

Not that I saw. I saw MCPS parents reacting to the statement in the video, but nothing personally derogatory.

Regardless, the inappropriate and offensive statements made against the student have nothing to do with the validity of concerns at the statement she made. Shouldn’t we all agree that mask mandates should only be maintained if they are supported by data? And that if there are misconceptions about their efficacy, then we should work to educate students and teachers rather than just blindingly going along with them?

That particular group is incredibly racist and vile and they know it. Maybe they need to check the types of followers they are cultivating and actually pushback when the comments turn vile. Did not see any apology. Just that the video was removed.

Those women are nasty. Yup I said it. And if they are so righteous they could have pushed back against the horrible comments but they just let it sit.

Apology for what? Posting a video of a statement from a public official at a PUBLIC meeting is nothing the apologize for.

LOL, you're just upset cause the masks are going away and looking for something else to complain about. Go back and whine on the PAGES group.

They did push back. And when that didn’t stop the offensive remarks, they deleted their original post, despite nearly everyone agreeing there was nothing wrong with calling attention to the remarks at the school board meeting.

And despite that, a handful of activists who wanted to fight the adoption of the more recent CDC guidance decided to latch onto the post and mischaracterize what happened. It’s been clear that their objective wasn’t to come to the aid of the student, but simply to attack the group that disagrees with their policy positions. And they don’t seem to mind one but how it impacts the student.

So who are the “nasty” women again?

You can disagree with someone's views with attacking them personally. It's something we've forgotten how to do.

Nobody attacked her personally except for the trolls who have nothing to do with MOCO. The tweet went viral...as it should have based on her outrageous remarks.

Because they weren't followers of the account or any other local twitter accounts. They were trolls from who knows where.
