Crime has gone up all over the country. It's not isolated to Rockville.

But I don't see it in the local news. Do you have a link to the news story?

Just stop. If you live there, you know it. Come on

I do live in Rockville. My kid goes to RM, has gone ice skating in RTC many times, and walks there for lunch sometimes.

Do you have a link or not?

I don’t think it made the news. My spouse is a Police Officer. The robbery occurred in one of the garages.

Don’t be like Palisades w the planes and Spring Valley with nerve gasses. Nothing to see here until some sucker buys

uhh... wut?

Google it yourself. What I saw was enough for me

There have been a few incidents of robbery near RTC due to its proximity to metro, IMO.

My HSer and their friends go to RTC quite often at night. Only one time I felt unsafe for DC was when DC walked alone at 10pm to the gas station in front of Dawson's market. In general, it's not a good idea to walk alone at night anyways.

I went to a college town in a very white area, and we were told to never walk alone at night.

I did. Didn't see it. That's why I asked.

If you saw the stabbing in Bethesda would you think Bethesda is not safe?

All I can say is… this is the kind of panic from afar that I would have had when I first moved to this area with a baby. And it has literally never affected my life that my county of a million people has some gang members. No place in the county is like the Wire. Stop imagining.

It’s not that. It’s why bother? Works for you maybe, but most of don’t want to think about this or our resale

You are correct in that its easy to live your life in MoCo unaware of the gang activity and violence.

But I also challenge you to go walk around some areas of Wheaton or Montgomery Village after dark by yourself and still ask yourself if its anything like the Wire.

I was once in the Walkers Choice apartment area off of MV ave after dark and it was not a welcoming environment. At All

DP.. of course, most large counties with a sizeable lower SES population has issues. That's the case all over the country/world. MoCo is no different.

I just scanned some of this "very DCUM" thread and kept coming back to the OP.

How was this news to you?! Where have you been living? Under a rock?!

Any place you have population density and mixed incomes you'll have gangs.

If you've lived here long enough, you would know their is basically no local news. Sure maybe a couple websites like MoCo show, Bethesda beat cover local news, but this is a local news desert.
