Areas in Maryland with gangs?

ROCKVILLE – The Public Safety (PS) and Health and Human Service (HHS) Committees for Montgomery County met on Jan. 23 to receive an update on gang activity and gang prevention services in the county.

Police, state attorneys and many public institutions were called up to speak about their results and what they are doing to combat gang violence.

According to county officials, gang-related crime, other than homicides, has remained relatively consistent over the past five years. Several years ago, the county experienced a significant increase in gang-related homicides.

Doesn't say that there is gang activity in Rockville, though.

FFX and other NoVa counties also has gang prevention taskforce. I guess OP shouldn't move to FFX, either.

The Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force includes agencies from 15 jurisdictions, including Fairfax, Arlington and Prince William counties and the city of Alexandria, as well as the Virginia State Police.

Silver Spring, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown....just assume it exists.

Yes to all of these. And do not expect any sympathy or conversation on your post Op. Most of the posters on this tread are social justice live and let live idiots who will call you a "Karen" for judging a neighborhood's safety on gang activity or proximity. Listen to your instincts and do what feels right for your family. I suggest you visit your local police department, they will gladly inform you on the areas of concern. And yes, I'm sure I'll get flamed for this suggestion. So DO NOT care.

As a Rockville resident, this is news to me. Where in Rockville are the gangs? Can't speak to the other cities, but I have never felt or seen any gang activity in Rockville. Where and what gangs are these?

BTW I grew up out west with real gangs in schools in the 80s/90s.
not gang related but there was an armed robbery in Rockville town center on Monday and a crazy person waving a knife around at the ice rink yesterday. Not sure if anyone got hurt at the ice rink…. Rockville town center used to feel safe.

Was just googling. Had no idea MoCo and Rockville were so gang-y. Will drive faster en route to the country club.

Yeah, but there is a bunch of gang activity in Rockville.

A few years ago these high school kids won an award for reporting on it

Why buy anywhere where you have to worry? So many gorgeous places to live in DMV that are perfectly safe. Why even take a chance, esp in an overpriced market.

There was drug deal in Bethesda that lead to someone being stabbed. I guess Bethesda is no longer safe, either.

Crime has gone up all over the country. It's not isolated to Rockville.

But I don't see it in the local news. Do you have a link to the news story?

Are you a gang banger?

Yes, but things didn’t get solved or better? I thought you had asked because you, like me, thought these kids were awesome. But no. It was to say nothing to see there. Step 1 to solve the problem is to say you have a problem.

Don’t be like Palisades w the planes and Spring Valley with nerve gasses. Nothing to see here until some sucker buys
