DC gig economy is ruining our neighborhoods

Anonymous
Anyone else tired of seeing 20 something men driving sh*tty Nissans or Camrys speeding through our neighborhoods blowing marijuana smoke out of their tinted windows? There is zero reason they would be in my neighborhood unless they are dropping off a door dash order or driving an uber. I’m pretty tired of it. I choose this neighborhood 20 years ago to avoid being around these knuckleheads yet here I am dealing with them every day trying to avoid them as they speed through my neighborhood.

Um…what? If you don’t like your neighborhood, then move. But you don’t get to control who comes through. Find a gated community.

Poolesville or Ashburn might be more your speed.

A gated community where you deal with the class of people who have classy personal assistants to run their errands, not reliant on Door Dash and such.

Or move down a rung to join us lowly people who cook / pick up their own food.

You’re a racist troll.

DP. I might draw the same conclusion, informally, but before posting that, I'd want to draw out race-related specifics from the OP.

The post described age, car type, driving behavior & smoking/drug behavior, and questioned purpose. None of that is explicitly racist, and knee-jerk retorts assuming so without that further investigation are self-defeating, supplying those who might be racist with a wedge to divide those who are actively anti-racist from those sympathetic to anti-racism but not so active who also might have, say, in this case, interests in a more peaceful community/living experience.

Separately, suggesting people move in response to highly contested change is a facile retort, among the most societally and economically destructive options for resolution. That said, one wonders whether OP is reasonably evaluating the change they observe, or whether they are, themselves, allowing a knee-jerk conclusion to an incident or two that personally affected them.

Who said anything about the color of their skin except the morons excusing this behavior as acceptable in a functioning society?

It's because your neighbors are too lazy to cook or procure their own food.

Your neighbors are the problem. And you if you get food delivery. You shouldn’t have chosen such a pricey neighborhood.

Unless someone says the N word then it isn't racist?

Come on, we know what you're getting at.

+1 we are all the reason for the explosion in deliveries. Amazon, door dash, Uber eats, grocery delivery, etc. Those ppl are not joyriding in your neighborhood for kicks.

I hate the speeding too. But you're rude in how you talk about the people doing these jobs.
