The competition in China is so high that even to get into a decent middle school (7th grade up) is something that the parents start pondering and instilling into their children somewhere in the 3rd grade (sometimes, in the kindergarten). To get into a decent university (and I am NOT talking about Tsinghua or Peking unis) is even more challenging, and the grueling process of preparation begins somewhere in the 7th grade.

Fix it

dont bring your dirty laundry to our culture.

hmm ok so the culture of education intelligence, not wearing shoes in the house, and using bidet is dirty... sorry nope

Why would you ever separate from such a great culture?

NP here. I’m Korean American and I grew up in the US. I’m so grateful that I was able to study here and not Korea. The competition is fierce to gain entrance into university that students study all the time. Because everyone is studying so hard, the bar is that much higher.

I have very high standards for my children in all aspects, not just academics. Academic excellence is just a given. I don’t think I push my kids that hard in school. I do expect them to get perfect grades. This is not that hard. It is easily obtainable with very little effort.

We have educated friends from all different backgrounds. Our parenting styles may differ, but we all want academic success for our children. I don’t know one parent who doesn’t want their child to do well in school.

This is cultural racism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_racism

This is the attitude whites had toward blacks back in the day, and it probably still exists to some extent. Now you want to turn it on Asians. Do you want to say it to Latinos too?

Actually, White people are funny that way. They love black culture and hate some black people. I also see a lot of Asians trying to mimic black culture...to varying degrees of success/embarrassment.

Top teacher wins $1m and gives half away

Teachers "always believe in giving and sharing", he said, and as such was sharing half his prize money among the other teachers shortlisted in the top 10.
Mr Disale was praised by the competition's judges for his work to ensure disadvantaged girls went to school and achieved high results - rather than missing out on school and facing early marriage. He also provides online science lessons for pupils in 83 countries and runs an international project building connections between young people in conflict zones.

Man Arrested on Charges of $21 Million HxxB Visa Fraud Conspiracy

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A Sterling man was arrested today on charges of conspiracy to commit visa fraud and for inducing aliens to come to the United States using fraudulently obtained HxxB visas.

According to court documents, Ashish Sawhney, 48, allegedly used four corporations to orchestrate the improper submission of fraudulent applications for H-1B specialty-occupation work visas. The six-count indictment identifies Sawhney as the director or registered agent for Value Consulting, LLC, Value Software Products, Inc. (formerly known as Value Consulting, Inc.), Business Pointers, Inc., and E-Train ERP, Inc., each of which had offices located in the Eastern District of Virginia and purported to provide information technology staffing and software development services for commercial clients in the United States. Sawhney submitted or caused to be submitted Hxxb visa application materials stating that the foreign workers named in the applications would fulfill a specific job, where in fact, no such job existed at the time of filing. The indictment alleges that through Sawhney’s ownership and direction of the scheme, his companies generated gross profits from 2011 to 2016 of approximately $21 million. The indictment further alleges that Sawhney, who is an Indian national, attempted to naturalize as a United States citizen by submitting an application containing false statements.

It's okay to discriminate against Asians because we don't complain. They were talking about some schools having a lack of minority students and they literally just showed a graph that lumped "whites" and "east asian" students together, and "blacks", "Hispanic" as distinct groups.

Well see, the white supremacist’s for years have been more accepting to the “East Asians”. When they have babies with them, the kids turn out white for the most part. They are almost white.

Both stories are true. Like most cultures, there are positive and negative examples. I'm sure you guys can go back and forth sharing articles about Indian racism and Indian charity for days. Personally, I know some Indians who are extremely welcoming and kind and I also know ones who are extremely racist against non-Indians and lower class Indians to the point that I can't even be around them.
