This is not funny and IDC what you think about Mandami or Musk, but the US president joking about deporting people is unacceptable and highly problematic.

NYC is already drowning in debt, while Florida has zero debt. Why?

Of course Mamdani isn’t showing anyone exactly how his communist agenda will be funded. His voters are too stupid to see he’s a complete FRAUD.

Florida is a sh!thole.

NYC is an ish hole.

Lol no one who said Mamdani hates the Jews said anything insightful. That's an obvious Islamophobic lie meant to slander a candidate.

He wants equality and freedom for all. As such he is not against Jews but he is against Zionism and Jewish supremacy over others.

That should finally get things kicked off nicely. They should probably wait until they get the gestapo better funded. As it stands they are getting chased out of neighborhoods with their tails between their legs by aunties and middle aged men. Good luck in NYC.

And they have the backing of the military to force the country to go along with socialism. Without that type of force, the educated and successful people in the private sector would leave. If Mamdani makes NYC socialist, but the rest of the country remains free, I don't understand why the 1% would choose to stay in NY to support free child care, free bus fare, etc. for everyone else. what is their incentive to stay?

No hedge fund manager or trust fund baby - the core of Manhattan - is moving because of a minor increase in local taxes. Mamdani's policies are much more impactful for the MC and UMC. Rent control - that is a very big deal in NYC. That's the local government choosing winners and losers. And that's been pretty disastrous overall for most people. When you take all those apartments off the market rate, it vastly increases the costs for new renters. Getting rid of rent control and building new housing is much more effective, but progressives don't like that for lots of reasons. And defunding the police is obviously very consequential. NYC toys with out of control violence from time to time - and that is very impactful for everyone. Obviously there needs to be a balance between addressing social, mental health, and addiction issues and dealing with violent crime. But that's not a straightforward thing. Social workers will get murdered if that's the first response. You can't legislate these things.

My sense of Mamdani is that he is a very privileged young man with an enormous ego. He's never had a 9-5 job in his life, so he doesn't get that struggle at all. He seems like a TikTok guy - hate the Jews, be performative about everything. Not a serious man. Even for a 33 year old, which these days are generally big babies with an extended adolescence that goes on and on. I really don't think a guy like this is going to win Staten Island, Queens, most of Brooklyn, or the Bronx. Mamdani has zero connection with the working and middle class - which is the norm for Democrats these days and why they continue to lose.

Truly. Dems have become the party of the over-educated, trust fund babies, who are out of touch with hard work and reality.

If my taxes increase by 2%- his proposal for salaries over 1M - that is simply not that big of a deal. We’ve seen tax increases before and most UMC New Yorkers want to live in a thriving healthy city. And to put it more selfishly and practically, it’s better for everyone if people of different economics can afford to live here- we need workers of all types- not only bankers but teachers, firemen, police, sanitation workers, hair dressers, restaurant workers etc. This is not hard to figure out.

Thanks for taking a stab at serious discourse, up to your last sentence. But taxing 1% of the people an extra 2% will not make the city affordable for everyone on your list, not to mention the illegals who will continue to pour in, if the city is advertising itself as affordable for everyone and a sanctuary from immigration enforcement.

You obviously don’t live in NYC so I’m not sure why you’re bothering to post. But to address your points, no one is going to ‘advertise’ the city any more than it already has been. People come here bc it is vibrant and there is work, because they have family here, etc. New Yorkers are accustomed to immigrants. As far as being affordable with his fixes, no, I don’t think his proposals will magically make NYC affordable to everyone in the world. But if some tweaks make life a little better for the people already here, I’m fine with that.

As one prior ex, universal pre K has been great. A win. Did I see people moving here in droves bc of it? No.

To slander him in advance just will increase his popularity with the youth

New Yorker here. Correction. We always hate the mayor when he’s in office. But like him afterwards.

Who met 3 months ago?

The new wife. She’s a prop.

New wife? He is 33 and she is 27. They met 4 years ago and married 3 months ago. Were you expecting him to have a wife of 11 years and 3.5 kids?

Might be a beard. This is a weird way to act at PRIDE parade as a straight man. Jumping up and down like that weirdo Elon Musk in Butler, PA.

Agree that no straight man in pride parade history behaves like a maniac.

Remember when the Republicans tried to shame AOC for her college dancing video. That went over well

I look forward to you self-deporting when we get back into power, unless you love the Everglades.

Which has exactly what do do with NYC? Is he actually running for U.S. Secretary of State?

Because if you want equality for all then you can't support apartheid or an ethnosupremicist state like Israel.
