MOCO BOE update: Beidleman Report summary

Email just went out that McKnight has been in the hospital this week and the COO is temporarily acting superintendent. So I guess the calling in sick was real.

Seen on the agenda for the 10/26 BOE meeting:

Wow. Things are really going poorly for her...

Approximately a month later, one day after The Post filed a Maryland Public Information Act request for Beidleman’s personnel file, a central office employee ordered a change to the draft report “to reflect that there was not enough evidence to substantiate” the social studies teacher’s claim. The revision took effect July 12 and was finalized by the Office of General Counsel on July 21.

I would argue that the relevant paragraph is actually the next one in the article:

"But a central office employee backdated the change to June 26, a day before Beidleman’s promotion and two days before the OIGE reached out, the report’s authors write. “We find that [redacted] altered the [redacted] investigation timeline in violation of MCPS’s Employee Code of Conduct, which prohibits submitting incorrect or false information to MCPS and requires employees to act honestly in the completion of their job duties.”

Emphasis mine, but violating the Code of Conduct and backdating a report actually does sound a lot like malfeasance to me.

Look, I wish Dr. McKnight the best and hope she heals quickly. Also, I think she is the wrong person for this job. She's far too enmeshed with the bad actors to be a credible "new broom" in a system that badly needs a clean sweeping.

She lost the trust of teachers a while back, and she's lost the trust of many parents and community members in her handling of this mess.

It seems like a completely benign and legitimate annotation, but the poster made it sound like something nefarious. Seems like a lot of posters are trying to make nothing into something here instead of being objective.

What? I don’t understand. It’s not me making anything sound nefarious- this is from the WaPo article. And, backdating something like this IS bad. I don’t understand why you would characterize anything happening in that swamp as “benign” when this predator has been promoted again and again and it was an open secret in his schools that he was! And reports up the chain were ignored! Who are you defending central office?

Oh wait.

You work in central office!

Deep sigh.

Monifa also lost the trust of the administrators too: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1161534.page

The only person who she seems to have impressed is the anonymous poster who feverishly and tirelessly defends no matter what facts are put in fron of them.

Way to ruin a good conspiracy!

There are 12 (acting) positions on the chart.

huh, an acting superintendent would imply that Dr. McKinght may not be back for quite a some time, if she comes back at all. Usually, if you are sick, even for the super, there would not be a need for an acting. Hope it is not as serious as it sounds and that she is ok.

Who is the acting superintendent?

Nobody. McKnight is the superintendent.

Brian Hull is the acting superintendent.

No, that would be Michael Simmons who instead of being fired, retired.

Nah, seems like the same people never wanted her in the first place and refused to give her a chance.
