Sorority hazing

Anonymous
How prevalent is it at your kids school? Can you name the school?

Just heard about the common hazing game: “blow or blow” and was personally taken aback (choice btw drugs or a sexual act).

I have heard that cocaine is quite big in Greek life and is often part of hazing. Not so much the sexual acts part.

I haven't heard of this.

There definitely is a lot of cocaine involved in Greek life in 2026. Like, a lot.

Are we talking the southern schools? SLACs? UMD?

I've heard mean stuff like the "jiggle" where the other girls circle your jiggling body parts while the candidate sits on a dryer machine. Also in a circle they shout mean things until she cries. Syracuse/U Mich

As someone who was in an SEC sorority in the 2010s...sororities should not be hazing. Seriously if your daughter experiences this: drop and report! The national orgs do not tolerate it. When I was a pledge our introduction to the sorority was getting presents and going to a bunch of bonding events for ~8 weeks. I don't know why anyone would tolerate hazing when you should be having that experience.

Panhellenic sororities should not be hazing and IME they do not. Way too much on the line there and many of the girls won't tolerate it and it will be reported. Rush is the hard part then they are basically queens.

Fraternity rush/pledging is the opposite. For whatever reason the boys are much more amenable to being hazed.

Now there are other non-panhellenic orgs that might haze but I can't speak to those. There are also drinking clubs and other orgs that pick from Panhellenic sororities that might haze as well.

lol, definitely not true especially where sorority rush is highly competitive. No one wants to the tatttle tail that everyone hates.

Two in sororities in different parts of the country, neither one in the south and both have told me about "blow or blow."
