Hello,
I've been trying to lose weight by myself, it's very slow (but working). I'm seeing all these people using GLP and wondering if I should go ahead ... My question is : do you still need to be careful about what you eat while using the glp ? Or you can allow yourself some treats etc. I'm thinking about one girl on tiktok that has lost about 120 pounds thanks to glp but when she shows what she eats, I can see sodas, fries etc ... Thanks! |

pre GLP-1 i was on weight watchers and ate mostly chicken, veggies and fruit.
Now on GLP-1 I eat everything, i ate ice cream last night, i have sandwiches with bread, i eat pasta. It's so nice to eat normal again. |
| we DEFINITELY needed a brand new thread about this. Because 2345 existing ones were not enough to answer your questions. Google also doesn't have any info about this AT ALL. |

I can eat whatever I want on glp. But I don't. I'm careful to make sure I'm getting enough nutrition. When you're eating less, it's more important to make sure you have enough protein and vitamins. Otherwise you risk hair loss or vitamin deficiencies. I was also careful not to lose more than 1lb a week because of hair loss/ozempic face etc.
GLP is great though. I now have a lot more full fat things that I wouldn't before. Like half and half vs skim milk in my coffee. More butter. I'd never drink something like Diet Coke now because that's just extra chemicals and Coke is likely better for you (I'm not a soda fan though). |
You won't WANT to eat when on it. That's the point. You will have no appetite (except for moments when you are momentarily famished. They pass). |
| You can have success either way, but it's not optimal to lose weight eating poorly. This person is likely just reducing calories/portions but losing muscle and getting "skinny fat", not to mention not helping their cholesterol. I'm on tirzepatide, focusing on body recomposition through exercise (both weights and running) and great diet. I've lost around 16lbs so far in 3 months but look leaner than I have at current weight in past. |

My friend went on GLP and lost a fair amount of weight but then gained it all back quickly when she stopped and developed back pain issues from the sudden weight gain.
I would not discount the benefits of slow weight loss if you think that is sustainable for you. I would do GLP in your situation if you don't think you can sustain your current routine. It does sound like you are restricting your diet a lot, which might be hard to sustain, but you know you best. Personally I am losing weight slowly on my own and I pretty much eat what I want. I do exercise a lot - typically 45-60 minutes of cardio or strength 6 days a week. I did completely quit alcohol. The weight is coming off slowly (6-7 lbs so far), but the biggest difference I see is comparing photos of when I started to now. I have definitely lost a visible amount of fat around my midsection. |
OP here. Like Kim Richards would say to Lisa Rinna : "you should eat some bread" đ and be nicer (it's free) Anyways, thank you to the people who gave me helpful advice ! |

1. You wonât want to eat
2. When you do eat, you need to make it nutritious since itâs a very small quantity. If you donât prioritize protein, youâll lose all your muscle. 3. I had zero cravings for sweets, coffee, or alcohol. High fat foods (fried or dairy) made me immediately nauseous. |
You should learn how to use the search feature. There are like 14 GLP threads going on at any time.

I'm finishing my 3rd month of Zepbound - self-pay through LillyDirect. I've lost 20 pounds, and I am on 5 mg (227 to 207). I'm moving up to 7.5 mg just to see if it kills my desire for any alcohol. But my poops have been a lot more solid, which is nice. Minor panic attacks have disappeared (like when driving over a tall bridge). I'm at the gym at least 5 times a week doing real weight machine lifting - wanting to keep my lean muscle mass. No side-effects to date, and I might go back to 5 mg if 7.5 makes it difficult to make myself eat (and sometimes it is a challenge at 5 mg). I do a mega protein shake (with whey, fiber, Collagen, Creatine, etc...) every day around 11 a.m., and stop eating at night around 7 p.m. (intermittent fasting). I try to drink enough water, but usually about 120 ounces a day, and 150+ grams protein a day. Not sure where I will end up, but I've definitely built up some muscle even while in a daily calorie deficit. The dad bod is mostly gone, except for some handles, but my focus has really been to get rid of the visceral fat (youtube it, you'll see how disgusting it is). But once I find my weight, I'll look into compounding facilities to see if there is a cheaper way to mainting - but the prices do see to keep coming down on Zepbound. |
| My dad is on mounjaro for diabetes. My mom always mentions how he can eat whatever he wants, like completely go hog wild with desserts and such and has still lost a bunch of weight. But I think that is not typical, my understanding is most people are turned off by food when on the medication. |
| If you are losing weight on your own, even very slowly do not take a GLP1. Unless you honestly plan on being on it for life you will just gain the weigh back. |
Guess what? I lost 70 lbs in 2017 all on my own. I ate super healthy, I worked out with a trainer, the works. Then after about a year, I started gaining back a pound here and a pound there. By 2022, I had gained all of it back and then some. So whatever you decide to do, you'll have to do for the rest of your life. There is nothing wrong with taking a potentially life saving medication for the rest of your life. Stop this nonsense. |
