Question about GLP

Guess what? I lost 70 lbs in 2017 all on my own. I ate super healthy, I worked out with a trainer, the works. Then after about a year, I started gaining back a pound here and a pound there. By 2022, I had gained all of it back and then some. So whatever you decide to do, you'll have to do for the rest of your life. There is nothing wrong with taking a potentially life saving medication for the rest of your life. Stop this nonsense.

such words of wisdom! never thought of it this way thanks for sharing

Eat what you want....but know that you'll gain it all back as soon as you stop the shot. If you change your habits, that is less likely.

But you're a troll, and we all know it.

You don't really eat on them and feel like garbage when you do. So, yes, you what whatever you want.

I have been on zepbound since June. I lost 30lbs and am moving to maintenance . I used to think I ate healthy. The appetite reset from GLP1 made me realize I was absolutely over consuming. I used being on zep to reset hard on my diet. And kicked my workouts into high gear. For me the drug has been a tool but I feel great about my nutrition and exercise. I would not pay out of pocket if I was just going to keep eating fries and goldfish.

You don’t know how it will affect you. It’s given me massive food aversions. I could eat anything but I don’t want to. The idea of fries, cheese or ice cream make me want to throw up. Most days I can’t eat poultry of any kind now.

But I still have a little dark chocolate now and then. I can stop at a little, that’s the difference.

I have no desire for any alcohol. I didn’t drink a lot before and now I don’t want any.

I didn’t eat any pie, mashed potatoes, or turkey at thanksgiving because they sounded so bad to me.

It hits everyone differently. I have been on Zepbound for a year and only lost 15 lbs and it only happens when I am super careful about what I eat.

That was not my point. I am not at all against taking medication like this for the rest of your life. However, most people go into ALL weight loss methods (diet, exercise, specific diet like keto, and medication) with the mindset that losing weight is the hard part and if they can just lose the weight they will keep it off and the VAST majority do not. Most people are paying out of pocket for this medication and with that, they don't plan on paying to stay on it for the rest of their lives. If they truly do then go for it, these medications are great.

It’s not that expensive especially at a low maintenance dose. Under $100/month is a tiny price to pay to remain at a healthy weight.

In my experience, all out of pocket costs are the same cost regardless of dose.

2.5 mg and 15 mg are still $550/mo with a coupon

To answer OP's question regarding whether you can eat what you want and have treats and still lose weight...

I haven't wanted to have any treats, fried food does not sounds appetizing. I've been on the lowest dose of Zepbound for 2.5 months and I've had a handful of "treats" -- last week I had 1/2 a muffin, and two mini reeses cups at different points when I wanted something sweet. Nothing fried. But I have had slices of fresh buttered bread or toast! Which after years of diet culture feels like such a treat. I was a healthy BMI my whole life until I had kids and have started-stopped weight watchers a million times. I had a goal to lose 20 pounds when I began Zepbound; this would put me inside the healthy BMI range again. Eating a piece of toast without guilt feels like a small miracle. It makes me sad to type that out.

I'll tell you that I had a shrimp dish one day that was cooked in hot chilis and oil and I really paid for that. I was so sick overnight. Like I said, I havent had any fried food but I assume it would be similar...

You can stretch that 15mg if on maintenance dose but not all companies do it that way.

I'm on Wegovy, in maintenance for over a year. I eat normally, meaning ONE cookie not a dozen lol. Reasonable portions and I don't snack much. I don't always want dessert, but if I do, I'm eating like I said, one cookie or a small serving, not overdoing it.

I’m on Zep and don’t eat any & everything

I've lost 75 pounds on Wegovy. I have allowed myself plenty of treats. If there is something I want, I'll have it. I just tend to eat very little of it. I eat much smaller portions of things. There are some things, like Starbucks drinks, that I don't have any desire for anymore, as well. So I don't have those things.

On or off the glp1s, you need to get yourself to a place where you recognize non single source / processed foods are garbage and unappealing. A baked good or some well made chocolate every once in a while is fine. Consuming garbage always leads back to the same place. Some people can do that without glp1 help, others can’t. Either way, the path to success for life is real food, even though it’s a huge pain in the ass.
