Official Abortion Thread

The issue is this: give the evangelicals etc what they want (make abortion illegal) and it isn’t as if they are going to quit this shit and start voting Dem. They’ll just move onto the next “issue”- who knows what that will be- birth control?

Yes, it would be birth control. Birth control and abortion are freedoms both protected by the same right to privacy.

Tomorrow, the Kansas House will vote on a constitutional amendment that could allow for a complete ban on abortion with no exceptions.

Ugh. The GOP sucks.

And just passed in the Oklahoma House: a measure that would revoke the license of any doctor who performs an abortion.

Women have ALWAYS had abortions. The fact that they were legal or illegal, safe or unsafe, affordable or ridiculously expensive has never stopped them from happening. Ever.

But what having safe, attainable and affordable abortions has done is prevented women from dying in the process.

Coat hangers, vacuum cleaners and the guy claiming to be a "doctor" in a dark alley are all things a woman who has no other options considers and in fact has done.

Nothing will prevent women from terminating an unwanted pregnancy.

You know, at this point I am just about ready to let the evangelicals win their "abortion ban and instead work to help all other women. The 'gelicals can then loose their daughters or have their daughters become permanently damaged while they are getting abortions in dark alleys pretending to their parents they aren't having sex.

And i'm all for obgyns refusing to use IVF and fertility treatments with evangelicals who don't believe they should play God with abortions.

I am evangelical and I am totally agree with you about IVF and fertility treatments. The planet is so overpopulated, we don't need artificially created kids.

Whatever happened to safe, rare and legal? We are at the point where women actually celebrate their abortions.

Jesus you’re claiming to base your forced birth opinions on a fake tiktok? Retweeted by a red hat magat?

No wonder you Republican snowflakes are always in a lather. Literally any fake thing sets you off.

Definitely too many evangelicals. They should be banned from procreating in any manner. Obviously, we should decide what happens with their uteruses.

You do realize this is fake right? I'm surprised I even have to ask but here we are.

Also just in case you weren't aware...having an abortion is not something anyone actually celebrates ever. I have been with two friends while they have had one and although they are 100% confident in their decision and don't regret it...they certainly didn't "celebrate" it and wasn't at all something they looked forward to. It was one of those solemn days that you simply get through. Even though something is right for someone doesn't make it easy or happy.

All that does is reduce the number of doctors working in a state that is woefully short of doctors. Way to serve the people of Oklahoma, GOP.

Then YOU don't have to have IVF and fertility treatments. But YOU don't get to tell ME what I do with my body or what family choices I make. THAT is what the Constitution is about.

No person gets to tell you, that is correct. However, Roe v. Wade clearly said that you do NOT have an absolute right to an abortion.

And other than when there is a non-viable fetus or the health of the mother is at risk, please name one "late term abortion" that occurred.

(hint, you can't)

They have no critical thinking skills and are triggered by any fake thing. Or anything meant to be sarcasm. They don't understand it.

Banning abortions and making them hard to get will only do the following:
1. Increase the amount of women who die attempting to do it themselves or having "back alley abortions" with untrained "medical people".
2. Increase the amount of abandoned and neglected children.
3. Increase poverty levels.

I really cannot even believe this is a thing. Abortions are one of the safest medical procedures when done in an approved clinic with an actual medical doctor. Making it illegal will simply make something that is currently safe not safe. It won't actually change the fact that they will happen.
