FCPS Skyview Boundary Revised Scenario 1 / 2

Anonymous
Final scenario will be out on Monday, June 15.

Reid's proposal to school board on July 13.

Based on the update in the Boundary tool, I guess we will see only one final scenario.

School Board can make amendments, etc, at the meeting and vote on them. Would not be surprised to see some of the egregious suggestions amended against the district SB member's wishes.

What 'egregious' suggestions?

Meren shared concerns about fmes at last night's meeting. I will not be suprised to see her propose amendments

Around 4:38! During the discussion about the Skyview contract. She was stopped and asked to focus on the contract instead of sharing all her concerns

Saying she stated in this particular venue that she has concerns about FMES is a bit of a stretch. You can all access the hearing here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZoQLz6_hk4 and fast forward to 4:35:15 for the motion and 4:37:09 to hear Meren speak. Meren asks why slides for the motion on the construction constract for Skyview were not up on the screen, expressed concern about the early childhood center renovation when other schools are waiting for similiar facilities, and stated she wanted to ensure the Dr. Reid was making intentional selections in pyramid formation including if Skyview would have dedicated a Middle School, what elementary schools would be considered-she specifically states Oak Hill, Floris, and Fox Mill which she says was a surprise to her and then quickly moves onto stating she feels that she has had to hear second hand about Skyview's language offerings which she states she has heard is Spanish, French, and Japanese.

The skyview contract discussion starts at 4:35.15. Meren brought up Fox Mill around 4:37 and got stopped by Dixit. lol.

Both Meren and Dixit are shameless politicians but at least Dixit is not dumb.

She has related concerns to Skyview and renovating the "gorgeous early childhood space" and the 2 million dollars, the pyramid and the assignment of schools to it. She is just asking about ES moving to the pyramid. She claims she was surprised that Fox Mill was moving. She is surprised about French, Spanish, and Japanese being offered. Then there is a point of order that the comments were meant to be tied ot the contract. Decisions are being made without informing the board, programming decisions are being made without consulting the board, no details on why decisions are being made.

There is no contract yet so that is why they have not received a contract. What was being discussed was authorization for the staff to negotiate the contract.

The amazing thing is how most of us were well aware that Fox Mill was being discussed to move and the languages and some how she was not.

Meren is just an obstructionist at this point.

She has made Facebook posts every time new scenarios come out...she has been well aware. She is just doing this now to save face, but she realizes her comments this late in the game will have minimal impact.

From the transcript on You tube:

4:37:124 Meren: Okay. I have some related. You know, I've said from the get-go that too renovate the gorgeous early childhood space would be heartbreaking because it is so nice. And I thought there was a vision for that. But when I read the general information, it talks about, you know, updating for high school, Houston. And that's unclear. It's is 2 million dollars you know, we heard tonight about other schools that have been waiting for longer. So I I do have questions about it. I also just want to expand that. This just follows a pattern of questions that I continue to have, including about the pyramid and a vision for it. You know, our high schools are the hearts of pyramids. And so we think about what's going to rent the renovated and happened there. You know, I've asked is there a middle school assigned to the pyramid? super response was it's unclear. I asked about our they're intentional selections of elementary schools in the pyramid because, you know, Flores says identified Oak Hill and also FOX Mill Elementary, which was a surprise to me. They would host. They'll be moving. And I started looking into pyramid makeup and there's that seemed to be an intentionality on like what's going to go into this pyramid. What's going to be assigned? There's also I. I've learned that there's academic programs like Spanish, French and Japanese going in. I heard that through the Grapevine that there are any official word and the board has talked at length about wanting to know more about world language decisions. And I even pulled up from the going order.

4:38:454 hours, 38 minutes, 45 seconds Dixit: State>> I think talking with architecture program right now. Is it are we talking about everything else? I would ask that due to late hour and the fact that we have to return to close that we keep our comments related to the specific item on the agenda

Ms. Meren: well, I can continue with saying that these decisions are being made without informing the board. And that is the trend that I'm seeing is that we're getting information about a contract that's not in the format that we usually get contracts in. And programming decisions happening here without any data about why rush using these particular programs we did authorize the general studies. I get that. But it's just this You know, why?
4:39:314 hours, 39 minutes, 31 secondsThere's no details about, you know, why these selections are happening.

100% Except that it makes her look like an idiot. Fox Mill has been listed as a school to potentially moved since the forst four scenarios came out. The languages have been mentioned since Mr. Jagels started holding meetings. I don't know who she is trying to impress with this. It makes her look ill informed and like she has ignored the issue for the last 9 months.

So, she is concerned about everything...multiple members of the board particularly Dixit and McDaniel have been involved in the Skyview process, and their involvement was no secret. She should have sought to be involved as well. She is now attempting to publicly absolve herself of any Skyview-related decisions so she can punt responsibility if anyone gets angry.
