Exactly. Dems need to get out of their echo chambers on this policy issue.

I’m a Dem, and I support it. Tax billionaires at the same rate as their secretaries and we’ve paid for it 100 times over. Or better yet, stop paying rich people to leave agricultural land fallow. Or end tax breaks for political activist churches. Or end corporate bankruptcy and make the owners personally liable for debts. Instead we just give give give to the billions to these folks, and attack each other over a mere pittance of forgiveness so maybe they won’t be indentured servants forever.

This is why America sucks. So effin selfish, so shortsighted.

You definitely haven't done the math.

If it manages to survive court challenges, then they get the progressive faction off their backs. If they lose, they can make a show that they tried and use to campaign for the next election in 24. Who cares about the people being used as pawns if the forgiveness falls through.

Personally, think its executive overreach and will somehow get smacked down by the courts if it manages to get the to the supreme court but Biden will reap the benefits either way

Think about it really hard. When a politician grants something he promised during his campaign, such as marijuana law reform and student loan forgiveness, it’s not “buying votes.” We’ve seen so little fulfillment of campaign promises that people who don’t keep up think it’s buying votes.

If we redo the 2017 tax bill that was shoved through, I think the math would work out much better.

Lol you can always leave, America is awesome. Now you’re gonna inflame both sides.

NP. Eh. The American dream is long long dead. Trump has revealed how racist and selfish most of us are. And yes, have secured foreign passports for girl and women-safe countries.

Libs are like chicken little.

And Republicans twist themselves into knots to avoid confronting the truth that their party stands for nothing more than owning the libs no matter the cost.

You have the analytic skills of a six year old. With an electorate this unintelligent it’s no surprise that we end up with an endless stream of incompetents governing this country .

I am not against dismissing loans for deserving or for those in poverty lower/middle class. However, I am far more concerned about the interest rates that are going to hit any new college loans. It going to hammer people in a few years.

Today's youth have learned from other's mistakes and fewer people are going to college and taking out loans. That's good for everyone except expensive university departments and administrations.

I've been paying 7% on my loans forever. It's nothing new. Good news is at higher rates, fewer people will be choosing to take out lots of debt willy-nilly.

Another $100M scam. Biden could EASILY just use tax return records to auto opt-in borrowers. Instead they make it a bureaucratic paperwork scam to steal over $100M. Lobbyists obviously pushed this crap. Shame on Biden's admin.

You know why people are being forced to opt in? Because some right wing clown filed a lawsuit claiming the forgiveness would harm him. We have to spend all this extra money to set up an administrative process because some idiot thinks he’ll get an invite to the country club if he owns himself.

Not the PP, but do you mind unpacking that? What is unintelligent or adolescent in that poster's comment?

What’s there to think about? He announces this crap executive action two months before an election where control of congress is on the line. but who cares if it’s vote buying if it’s your party and you benefit from it
