| Personally, I am not in favor. I work at Georgetown and it has moved far from its Catholic mission. |
| Maybe they are just trying to expand the pool from which they can hire. Maybe prospects were objecting. Seems unlikely there would be a downstream effect in the teaching itself. |
| Wow. That IS significant. |
|
This is huge news.
It's significant that they chose to do this right during peak admissions time. |
wn Georgetown is Jesuit (not just "Catholic"). You sure they've moved away from the Jesuit mission? |
Can you tell us more what you mean? My seniors (twins) are both applying to Georgetown this year. |
NP. I also work at Georgetown, and this complaint usually comes from people (usually older alumni) who equate “Catholic” with a narrow, traditional worldview. They think Georgetown is too liberal, too open, too accepting. They don’t like that there’s an LGBTQ Center. They don’t like the school’s embrace of undocumented students. Etc. Now, maybe the PP has a different perspective. But I’ve never heard someone say this who means something else. I’d encourage you to spend time on the website, particularly the “who we are” section. The school does not shy away from it’s Catholic and Jesuit heritage. |
IMO, yes. |
|
Wait, I saw this on a Daily Caller post (right wing source) and I am pretty sure it is fake news.
The far right tries to cast suspicion on Notre Dame despite it being a fairly conservative institution. |
This is not the differnce you think it is. |

Here is the source, not the Fox News spin:

| I find that disappointing. We’re in a time where a lot of people are seeking out traditional faith, and it’s sad that such a storied institution seems to be stepping back a bit. |
| ND has been boiling the frogs for years. There will be some vestige of practicing Catholics for a time but it seems to get smaller and smaller every year. It’s hard to stay Catholic and get invited to the cocktail parties. |
| I don’t see why this matters? The person sweeping the dining hall floors nor the HVAC guy need to be catholic. |
