How often do you run your dishwasher and how large is your family?

The title says it all.

We are currently a family of three and we run ours about every 1.5 days. It feels excessive and I’m just curious what other household usage looks like.

We are a family of 4 and run ours every night.

Five kids. We have two dishwashers so I get lazy and put big bowls in the bottom rack sometimes. Usually once a day though. Kids eat lunch at school.

Once a day unless we have a dinner party (which we do like 3-4 times a month). If party, usually 3 times (normal run, prep dishes run, dinner dishes run — my fine china is washable Lenox Hancock).

No, that's normal. In a family of four it's generally run each night after dinner.

Fmaily of three. Daily. Twice if cooking three meals at home on the weekend and baking something.

4 people was one full dishwasher every night. Now one kid's gone off to college, the dishwasher is emptier when I run it in the evening, but if I leave it 'til the next day, sometimes food smears dry before it runs and then they don't come off. So I prefer to run it every day.

Family of 3 and about the same. We didn't use many plates for dinner last night and didn't use many throughout the day or for dinner tonight, so probably won't need to run until after breakfast tomorrow. Depends on whether or not DH feels like washing the 2 pans that went in the oven by hand or not.

Family of three and we probably average once a day. Some days it doesn't get run, but some weekend days it might get run twice.

Family of 4, about every 2 days.

Family of three and every other day usually.

Family of three, usually every other day, sometimes daily, it really varies.

Never had one nor wanted one or needed one.

Everyone washes their own dishes immediately after eating, since they were big enough to stand at the sink.

Only guests get their dishes washed for them. Never had more than 30 guests at a time so no need for a dishwasher.

Modern dishwashers (Energy Star) use less water and energy than handwashing. https://home.howstuffworks.com/dishwasher-hand-washing-dishes.htm

Three people, we run it nightly after dinner. It's usually full.

I don't know what running it every "1.5 days" means - you run it in the middle of the day? I'm not home doing the dishes then. The only reason I'd do that is a big cooking project on a weekend.
