For years, UMC and wealthy black students have been able to glide into T20 schools because they check the right race box. We’ve all seen it in the private schools. Now everyone has to compete.

The focus should be on smart FGLI students who don’t get all the privileges and benefits of wealthy private school students who use race as a hook.

Ready for the incoming decade of no black representation. We seriously need to de racialize education. It’s embarrassing that we still have such intense segregation.

We need to fix k12 education but that is going in the opposite direction with the current administration. The former one wasn’t any better either.

It won’t happen, because it means libs will have to recognize that there are cultural issues that need to be punished in schools and republicans would have to want poor people to succeed for once and actually care about equality.

Students will attend schools their credentials qualify them for. Legally and morally, skin color is not a relevant qualification.

I honestly don’t get it. It’s 2025. Why does race-blind admissions not lead to a more balanced class naturally?

In theory, we should have a better distribution. It makes no real sense that there’s so many Asian students in higher ed.

Yep. Anyone in top private schools saw this in action. White and Asian kids killing themselves to be top5% in the class for an outside chance at Princeton. Just as wealthy and privileged (often more so) black kids skating in with grades in the lower half of the class. In this anonymous setting I can say that it's refreshing that this loophole has closed.

I think it's too early to jump to conclusions. Do we know whether the % of black applicants changed dramatically last year? Do we know whether black applicant yield was consistent with prior years? I know highly qualified black applicants at my DD high school are more discerning about whether they apply. For many of them, the Ivies have lost some appeal.

The visa issues this year might be part of the cause. A lot of Black students at the Ivies are international.

The freshman drop out rate due these students is zip you know who does fail freshmen year white Christian Mayes who were not ready to leave their mommy and daddy

The fact that there was such a notable drop shows just how much of a thumb on the scale was being given to race conscious admissions during the era pf affirmative action.

This is the narrative that most want to believe. The truth is we don't know how much it helped from what's been released and one or two year's worth of data.
