So you prefer empty shelves and distance learning?

I’m voting for Harris, but this comment made me laugh. Yesterday I saw that MCPS is offering online/distance learning for some children, and the shelves are empty of paper goods (at Costco) because of the longshoreman strike.

the strike started yesterday. There is no physical way the shelves are empty because of the strike.

I don't believe PP, especially about virtual learning for the strike (whaaaaa?) but people panic shop for stupid reasons.

I think Tim maybe needed a little more prep, but let's be honest there was no way he was going to win when it does not matter what the other side says. Jd didn't even have to prep. He could just literally make up whatever he wanted in the moment based on what Tim said and know that it does not matter at all to his voters

Walz is too old and too politically experienced to act like a nervous wreck during a single debate.

He was a senior enlisted leader in the US military and a football coach, but was in shambles last night. Something isn’t right about that.

Any man that doesn’t act like a toxic frat bro and bully people is “in shambles” for MAGA.

Vance didn’t act like a toxic frat bro.

Walz called himself a knucklehead. What a joke. Why would anyone vote for a self described knucklehead?

People with humility. Very typical for a Minnesotan.

Being humble is great, admitting you are an idiot is not great.

Nobody running for VP should have to explain their lies and misstatements as occurring because they are a knucklehead. That’s ridiculous.

Walz admitted he’s not fit for office. It’s embarrassing.

Cool. So when is Vance going to address all the lies he told last night.
Walz: not smooth and slimy. Substantive and truthful.
Vance: slippery smooth and lying all night long

Sorry you did not got used to be around highly educated males and they give you appearance of to be "slippery smooth". Vance manners and presentation were superb yesterday. I am not agreeing with his stand and policy, but anyone denying this just Russian troll.

Vance presented well on a superficial way. But when you really consider how he behaved, he spoke in entire paragraphs, lying with a smile, and mansplained repeatedly to Norah and Margaret

He was very articulate and very knowledgeable about many things. I was impressed how well he is aware of how CB1 app works for those who crossing the border. I bet Walz had no idea what Vance was talking about based on his face expression.

Walz was not very knowledgeable about immigration policies at all. I did not got a feeling that we will see any changes from what we have now in immigration field.

We would have seen progress if Trump had not pressured GOP members to block the bipartisan immigration reform bill that would have channeled a huge increase in trained staff and resources to police the southern border - all because he wants to claim victory for being the only and best person to deal with illegal Immigration. So cynical and sick.

We already see a progress. Those who used to just cross the border illegally now can upload CBP 1 app, and cross the board "legally". That is how we got 15,000 convicted murderers in the country and 12,000 convicted rapist in the country. Because even if you cross the border by using CBP 1, no one checked your background. Not even for prior murder conviction, forget about Covid vaccination.

Nothing unusual here, just another normal assimilated American citizen writing in normal American grammar, posting true statistics.

You must have prior murder conviction! Or be a 12,000 convicted rapist!

Grammar Nazi who murdered millions.

Meanwhile, Tim Walz has his own subreddit that is a love letter of sorts. He may not be smooth, but Walz is the epitome of likeable.

Vance definitely won this heart, and I wasn’t expecting to like him.

He is hot, I am sure he won a lot of suburban white moms hearts too.

Hot? Maybe in a date rapey way...

“If you are praising Vance for being better than Trump or the debate for being serious you are helping to normalize lying. You are making the case that liars can lie so long as they are slick and serious. This is what fascism does. It erodes reality”.

Vance is exactly like Trump. A liar in a fancy suit. Trump threatened to end our democracy and Vance will Not denounce that. He must support it. A man without integrity or a moral compass.

How is this election even a question? Think about your children DCUM.

Omg stop with the "everything they do is fascism". Politicians of all stripes lie constantly. Are all the reviled central office leads in the school district fascists?

After last night I’ve started resigning myself to four more years of Trump. Given how tight the polls, the dockworker strike, and some indications that Harris’ support is already fading, I can’t see Harris pulling this off.

As I watched, the main thing I considered is who is more prepared to step into the presidency. That is the primary purpose of a VP.

Vance proved he is ready. He has a command of the issues. He is able to articulate his positions and can explain and defend the positions of the ticket he is running on. He understands the concerns of the American people. And, he is at ease addressing a large audience.

The same cannot be said for Walz. He struggled trying to defend his past statements. And, they didn't even get into the whole military service embellishments. It wasn't clear that he understood or could defend the positions of his ticket. This is not surprising since it is questionable whether Harris actually can articulate her positions. He was uncomfortable. And, what was the "I became friends with school shooters" all about? WTH?

What's your plan for stepping him into the Presidency? He's not running for President. He's running with Donald Trump. You can't vote for VP alone.

Did anyone use the QR code to read the fact checks last night..... I'm guessing anyone who did that are the people who said Walz won

Here's the thing. Vance's favorability going in was in the toilet due to Vance's own remarks and unlikeability. The only place had to go was up, and with Trump at 80 years old and out of shape, the stature of his VP frankly matters more than Harris who is young and vigorous and who can be President for 8 years before Walz has a shot. Vance may have to take over for Trump during the term.

Vance acted like a whole different guy than he's been in interviews or in his interactions with normal people on the trail, or at MAGA rallies. And he was a smooth and silver tongued liar. He said ridiculous lies with a poker face and smile and it was only weird if you realized how outrageous his lies were. He really was saying "up is down" a few times. Tim Walz meanwhile was exactly the same as he is in person.

But despite all of Vance's sweet talking, the majority of the debate was not memorable and a bit boring. Until the Jan 6th exchange when Vance tried to smooth talk away from answering Trump's loyalty litmus test: "Do you accept that Trump lost the 2020 election?" Vance wouldn't say the obvious answer: yes.

Walz won the only exchange of the night that mattered. And unluckily for Vance, it was the note the debate ended on.

Go replay it or read the transcript, he was very clear and articulate.

All I got was he is married to A nice looking woman and child care is a young woman issue

Project 2025 scary.
And how many times did he mention his beautiful family and his three beautiful children? I almost threw something at the screen. Especially how he slid over the issue of gun control and kids being in danger at school. His three beautiful children I'm sure have no such worries in their wealthy bubble.

How many times did Walz mention Minnesota? Does he know he’s not running for reelection as governor?

He is the governor of a state and sharing his leadership experience there. Vance has been a senator for all of two years and has missed the last 35 votes on the senate floor. He has zero requisite experience to be a vice president and given trump's age and health, he would likely become president. Given his outrageous positions on abortion and democracy, that is a scary, scary though.
