There will be no matchup surprises, only some possible coaching adjustments. The problem for opponents is that Oakton’s younger players are stepping up more as the season progresses, making them tougher to stop than earlier in the season.

Their toughest games will be in the Regional. If they make the State Final, they would easily beat Battlefield by more than 10 goals.

Agree. If it’s a Battlefield vs Oakton state final, I predict a running clock against Battlefield before the end of the first half.

I will take that bet

You have one good season so far and you think oakton is gods gift to nova glax. Yes oakton is a good team this one year, but you don’t see any of the previous state champs bragging on this board like that.
O wait, I take that back—battlefield. But at least they didn’t say they were one of the best in the past 20 years. Watch what happens to oakton next year….

While it is true the “20 year” pp was over the top (I’m assuming he or she hasn’t been following high school lacrosse for two decades), but it’s just as uniformed to assume Oakton will be bad next year. When you combine the current crop of young starters, with the talent waiting in the wings, the team will still be good. Oakton actually has a freshman that, while not quite ready for prime time, plays very similar to the JMU commit. So Oakton’s middie line next year may look a lot like this year.

THE Jmu pumper trying to be anonymous and stealth.

Whatever stuff they are growing in the backfields of oakton and smoking, would love to get some of that. I suppose it wasn’t really yorktown who won states last year but it was actually oakton and your JMU girl posing as yorktown. And the JMU girl scored every goal.

Someone sounds bitter. The Oakton pp was just giving props to next year’s roster talent, which cuts against the assumptions expressed that Oakton is only good this season. It makes me wonder what talent will remain on all the teams regularly mentioned here. Most contenders will graduate a couple D1 commits.

Don't have a dog in the fight and daughter graduated, but know that oakton program. And while i cheer for them, I am also realistic, but Agreed with the other pp about oakton and next year declining and dropping big time in their talent. Fake news with the other pp assessment of oakton for next year. Why would someone continue to post such gross shortcomings and lead people on. Hopefully you don't do that in your everyday life. Just be real and call it like it is.
This thread is really amusing and entertaining of what i think is mostly adults bickering over a high school sport. Ditto on whatever they are growing at Oakton as I'll take some of that stuff, for medical reasons of course. lol

That is one down ... Woodson next to fall by West Potomac. Actually should be a great game and come down to 1 goal either way.

Will take Woodson all day long on that one at home.

West Potomac is on a roll! Won all 3 games this week without one of their best attackers.

West po, no shot at competing against Concorde district top 3 teams

They beat South Lakes already. By the same amount as Oakton too.

West P.O. has a solid record and I would not want any Concorde District team to take them lightly. In fact, South Lakes, depending on how they play against Centerville, could be one of the top three in Concorde.
Anonymous
WestPo did better against South Lakes than both Madison and Oakton. They would probably be 2nd in the Concorde behind Oakton. (Especially since Oakton is the best team in the last 20 years).

West Springfield parent here - West Potomac should not be taken lightly by any team. They came to play against us.
