I'm chaperoning senior beach week this week (half way done) with a dozen girls and it's interesting to me to see what is going on from a romantic standpoint. one girls has a boyfriend and is out with him each evening, and about half the remainder are home with me most nights and the other half appear to be having a whole lot of casual sex. I know what's going on for the first time in my parenting experience because everyone is tipsy and they share with friends and then they share with me. Conversation here is probably 1000 times more open than it ever is at home.
I'm having a hard time not being disturbed by some of this as the boys have apparently made it very clear that it's only sex. However, then I wonder if maybe it's all just good fun and maybe it's positive and empowering that these girls are doing what they want and what feels good. Thoughts? |
| Its beach week and they are adults. |
Not always. Some seniors can be 17. Even so 17 and 18 year old are still kids. |
| This is why beach week is such a bad idea. |

“The science” says maybe by age 26 they’ll act like adults. |

Or it's the final exam on maturity before they go to college? Who can handle it and who can't. Because they supervise themselves at college. |
| Only in America. |
No they are not kids. Not in the eyes of the law. Birth control people sex Ed etc.. open conversations with your kids boys and girls. |

| Where is this happening OP, and what is your role and purpose as chaperone? It all seems very bizarre. |
